What a ****ty corrupt league. No reason to support is as legitimate. It's too bad because the sport itself is amazing.

Yeah, MLB is corrupt. If there was electronic buzzer issues going on and they investigated and they never found anything, or claim to have never found anything either the players lied or the MLB is covering it up.

Unreal. Ban the entire team for life.

Ban the entire team... what does that mean? Take away the franchise and penalize Astros fans the most?

The players involved, the ones who benefitted should be paying massive fines IMO. Void their current contracts, take away their pay for the years they cheated? Something like that.

Personally I think teams stealing signs by using technology does not mean it is a corrupt league. We are talking about stealing signs.

Too bad teams didn’t use it against them. Make the catchers signals meaningless. Use audio signal from the dugout to signal pitches. Or a pitcher signal. Not saying that’s the answer to cheating, but sending a heater when the batter thinks it’s a change would be a good outcome for the cheater.

I was cheering for the Astros but think now that the title should be stripped.

They won by cheating in an egregious way.

Why does baseball even need signs? Just yell out the play like a QB.

OMAHA!!

Just radio the pitches in like the NFL, surprised it hasn't happened already.

I mean exactly what I said. Ban every single player involved for life. Take away their pay, contract, records, championship, everything.

Fines? Would you pay a fine to get an advantage over teams and win it all? Most would.

MLB needs to send a message here.

Ban all the players involved for life? That seems harsh to me for stealing signs but just my opinion. Suspensions maybe? Year without pay. That would seem pretty stiff.

From what I understand is many of the players involved with the investigation were granted immunity in order to get their full cooperation, so any sort of suspension would of course be instantly appealed by the PA and would most likely result in the suspensions being rescinded.

This whole thing is just ridiculous though. It's pretty clear why Jim Crane avoided suspension seeing as Crane is essentially Manfred's boss. A congressional oversight committee for Commerce and Energy has summoned MLB chairpersons to answer questions on the sign stealing scandal as well. This isn't going away.

Sorry, what’s the Commerce and Energy committee have to do with the scandal? I’m surprised no gambler has sued them.

Yeah that’s not going anywhere. The government investigating pitch signals sent between a catcher and a pitcher? Maybe they can take a look at game 6 from 2004 too while they’re at it.

The issue is whether MLB made a mistake in granting immunity to players who were clearly complicit in this.

Now presumably said immunity is jeopardized if the players weren’t honest.

Sure. So it sends that message.

And then MLB gets sued by the union, who wins their case in an absolute cakewalk, every single punishment gets overturned - with interest - and MLB comes off looking completely foolish.

Any punishment has to be in line with the CBA. And is currently complicated by the blanket immunity offered to get players to start talking. Who knows what Congress' dog and pony show might achieve.
