Sled Island can be bad for that because people show up early to see a band they like and just chat with their friends until they get on stage. It's very disrespectful.
I think it's more that having a wristband and being able to go into high demand venues freely generates less incentive to pay attention to the act for the sake of just being in the room. If it was about just putzing around waiting for an act they liked they'd be focused on the headliner, or they'd jump over to a different venue if they're just there for an opener. But I guess I'm projecting my typical SI approach o to the general public - I really don't get it though.
Kind of random, but apparently Kings of Leon is playing a free show during Stampede

Rock band Kings of Leon will be in Calgary on Saturday, July 14, and tickets to the show are completely free.
Yes, we know that it sounds too good to be true, but no, there isn’t some hidden catch.

The Kings of Leon concert will take place at the Knoxville’s Stampede Tent (840 9th Avenue SW, Calgary) with door opening at 5:30 pm.
While it is a free concert, that doesn’t mean just anyone can walk in and take a seat. Attendees will still need tickets to get in, which can be found by going to the Illumination Series’ website and registering.
Registration for the Kings of Leon show opened on Tuesday, June 26 at 10 am, and it will remain open until Sunday, July 8 at 10 pm — though we definitely recommend getting on that now, rather than later.
The live music the bar is known for will continue at the second location Clark opened last year, Mikey’s on 12th, where the business owner is hoping his supporters will gravitate.
News of the establishment’s closure comes on the heels of two other local music venues, Nite Owl and Distortion, shutting down in the past two weeks.
Mike Clark was always great to my band, played there last weekend, and he was kind enough to book us as his first act on his opening weekend 10 years back. I'm gonna miss that place.
Grabbed a ticket to see Teenage Bottlerocket And Chixdiggit at Dickens on the 19th. Teenage Bottlerocket always puts on a banger!

How did you get tickets? I thought pre-sale started next week.
Just googled tickets and they were on re-sale (Ticketmaster, Stub Hub, Vivid etc) like others mentioned. Ridiculous prices but I'm a massive Beatles fan and I've never seen Paul before and the seats aren't terrible so for me it was worth it.
Best seats I saw were row 8 on the floor going for $4596 each.
Managed to get 4 more tickets on the presale. If you’re thinking of going I recommend using the Ticketmaster app or LiveNation App. They worked better than the Internet. Likely going to sell out very fast too. Tickets ranged from $49.00 - $2800.00. Most in the $150-$300 range. Anything lower bowl is likely going to be $300 unless you buy limited sightlines. Floor looked to be around $500-$800.
Just bought tickets to see The Pixies and Weezer in North Carolina.
Yeah, yeah, they're not as good as they used to be. Screw it. Love both bands heyday and I'm sure it'll be a great show. Looking forward to seeing Weezer cover a Pixies song as well as they did this one.
