How long until Gausman is shut down for the year with a surgery? He's clearly still suffering from something.
Can't keep throwing him out there every 5 days. Skip a start or two. Get him healthy, or fix whatever is bugging him. This cannot continue.

that was some nice defense by Bo to cut the runner off at home plate.

The Rockies with 16 hits and still have 8 outs to play with. Will we see a Jays position player pitch before the end of the game?

On the other hand, these pants are truly bad. It's partially translucent.

Rockies are the first team to score in 6 straight innings this season.

This is not a serious baseball team.

A 3-10 team just embarrassed this team in horrible fashion. Can't wait for the the positive spin on this one. Bad team. Bad management. Fun new Reno's.

Again, defence at the expense of offence is a terrible tradeoff. They're exposed badly here. While a full sample hasn't come in yet, it's likely enough to raise an eyebrow that they can't score runs. Surprised? I'm not. On paper they're mediocre.

The worst part is that their infield is significantly worse without Chapman. They traded offense for defense last year, then this year traded defense for... worse defense with equally bad offense.

There are no positives with this team right now. Their young "stars" have taken a massive step back and are barely replacement level at this point. Their pitching has been solid but their ace has taken a massive step back. There is really nothing to be excited about with this team right now

Edit. Biggio is too. But he's not a "regular"

Schneider and IKF are both above 750 OPS, they don't show up on the stats unless you go to "all players" from "qualified players" because neither have enough at bats.
Of course, tonight's game makes them 1-8 without Davis Schneider (and his 0.929 OPS) compared to 5-0 with him, so naturally he'll sit tomorrow.
That said, tonight the players he would most likely replace (Biggio, Varsho, or KK with Varsho moving over) were the ones who actually hit today.
Jansen can't get back soon enough to replace Kirk and his 0.333 OPS.

Kirk’s fluky ascendancy a couple of seasons ago set the team back significantly. If Kirk didn’t have his breakout season, the team wouldn’t have made the Varsho trade and we wouldn’t be stuck with a bandaid and a borderline morbidly obese guy behind the plate. We might still have Lourdes too.

Yeah. Moreno's 0.744 OPS vs Kirk's 0.333 OPS is probably worth an extra win already.
Edited to add: looked it up and Moreno has 0.1 WAR against Kirk -0.2, so only a third of a win difference so far. Still prorated to 4 extra wins over the season.
Second edit: when looking up WAR I noticed Hicks has a higher WAR than every Jay except Berrios. I knew they should have re-signed him. 3 starts averaging 6 innings, with a 1.0 ERA so far.

He shouldn't have even made it through October. Rogers should have been looking for a replacement in September and pulled the plug once the season ended. They still could have took a run at signing the gambler.

Atkins being hooked in with Shapiro when both came in basically as a package, will get Atkins basically a couple months notice, and that won't happen until the Fall, and Shapiro will have someone else lined up
As such they won't make any of those GM moves until the offseason.
Schneider though is the day to day face in charge. And of course last playoffs shows he wasn't even that. Rightly or wrongly the manager is the easy fall guy to invoke a change of attitude and as fans who are paying premium prices for seats get more and more ancy, adjustments are made.
Do you really think the plan was to already have the new guy get called up and pitch within the first 3 weeks of the year?
I said a few weeks ago Schneider won't last the season if they aren't in contention, and probably won't be around next year if they don't advance at least a round in the playoffs.
But if the team really gets behind the 8 ball in the first month, that front facing person in charge is the easiest move to make to shakeup the attititde and that pound of flesh the fan base wants to have.
And unlike GM candidates they have to find, they have a well polished former player and manager standing nearby to Schneider every night in Mattingly who can confidently step in.
