I'm sure most of my classrooms in grade school were larger than those theaters. And had better projectors too. Still, it was $1 a movie for a reason.

Also, can anyone tell me if the curry/Indian restaurent is still in Mac Hall. It was next to DQ, if IRC. I used to buy rice from him all semester, and during exams he would always put on some curry, "you can't study on rice alone". Think he was also a math prof.
When I had my first car lot job at Macl1n ford when I was 17, I was desperately broke. I had no money, and no food, and had walked into work one day late as my car ran out of gas.

The receptionist, and older lady, said "Cecil is looking for you, and is pretty mad you are late."

I said "I am sorry, I have no money for gas, and I had to walk to work." And it was a good haul, about 5 kms. She then asked "Didn't you bring a lunch?" I said "No, I have no food either, but I will be okay until payday." which was the next day.

Anyway, I guess on her lunch break, she drove over to the Ogden Safeway, and bought me 2 big bags of groceries, and just gave them to me. I was kinda embarrassed and didn't know what to say, and probably didn't thank her like I should have being a stupid 17 year old punk.

I always wished, I could figure out who she was, as I have long since forgotten her name since I didn't wrk there long, and properly say thank you to her, or send her a card. You never forget nice gestures like that.

edit: This was 20 years ago.

I remember going there with 6 people packed into the old school Honda civic hatchback. I guess the city has probably expanded quite a bit that direction also.

Having NHL players live in middle class communities.

I grew up in Sundance, and in late 80's, Dana Murzyn, Gary Roberts, and McCowan all lived a few blocks from me. Tim Hunter was good friends with my older cousin and dropped by his Shawnessy house during parties.

The media hype around the players wasn't as big back then. I was really lucky to grow up when you could watch these guys play on Ch. 7, then see them wash their car in the drive way the next day.

Those are the same buses that my grandpa applied to drive a few years prior. Calgary Transit was slow getting back to him so he said ######it and moved to southern Alberta to start farming. If Calgary Transit were more efficient back then, my grandpa would have taken the job, my mom would not have met her future husband and I would not have existed.

This will probably be the only time I will ever be grateful from Calgary Transit being less than timely.

I miss $1 shots at the Back Alley before 10 pm. Throw down a $20 and you're good for the night.

Boo minimum drink prices!

I haven't been to the zoo for so long, I assumed that it was still there.

There sure was something special about going to the zoo as a kid and walking through that tunnel from the car park on a school field trip. Then coming across the mammoth before continuing through the other half of the tunnel.

I'm looking forward to some zoo trips once my little guy is a bit older.

You know I was just at the Zoo two weeks ago and I didn't look around when under the LRT station to see if it is still there.

We got Zoo passes as soon as my daughter turned 2, and it is awesome. It means you can go right away in the morning, for a couple hours, and not worry about not getting your moneys worth. Kids get a free yearly pass if they are under 3 as long as they are accompanied by an adult, so make sure you renew it before they turn 3 for an extra year.

Well it appears that he was moved out of his old spot in 2007 and replaced with a "guest relations area" and it was not determined whether or not he would be donated, sold, or... well... my childhood refuses to acknowledge the other option.

Why do I find it important to "research" these things on such a busy day? Damn you, CP. You're a mammoth time waster!
