Jason Bourne & Oberyn Martell go to China to fight.... Something.

That actually looks pretty cool. I was worried for a minute that Matt Damon made a 'Tom Cruise/Keanu Reeves mistake as a white Samurai' movie, but its not historical so it stands a chance.

The Last Samurai is awesome.

Looks like it could go either way. Great cast, good concept now how do they execute? Man of Steel was great in concept with a pretty solid cast and.... giant turd. Maybe they have a new concept. Aliens aren't necessarily bad or good but have complexity beyond what we've seen before.
Looks like a rip-off of the plot to Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror 1: Hungry are the damned.
Aliens show up with good intentions. Our own unbridled violence and fear cause us to go off the deep end. Aliens leave in disgust without providing us with the advanced technology they intended to.

Yes but this is what Polak and I are getting at. It's just nice to see someone trying to make an alien-themed movie actualy ABOUT something. Something that asks and strives to explore interesting questions. We've just been spoonfed the same ones over and over again. It's safe to centre a plot around a hostile alien invasion
"My family/friends are in danger, that's a relatable fear! And explosions with really neat alien technology, that's fun and entertaining for everyone!"
So even if it might end up being a flop, it's a relief to see that people are actuallywilling to take risks on putting out something a little more subversive.
Super 8 and Signs arpproach something like District 9 as well, as at least trying to do something a little more ambitious, even if it doesn't totally work.

I like both those movies too, an attempt at a more cerebral scifi is always good.
Sunshine is another one I like, though it doesn't involve aliens.

Yeah Sunshine is one of my favorite movies period. But even it loses itself a bit near the end. It almost did turn itself into an alien movie, and it didn't need to.
