Not bad at that number. Coleman is more of Glencross type guy that can play up and down your lineup.

A little high, but liveable. Now focus over on Ritchie and another defenseman like Pysyk or McIlrath, and regroup, looking for a hockey trade to address the top end.

If it's under $5M I like it

Every year teams are showing any bad contract is movable, so even if he tails off in the end it's not a big issue

I have a really hard time stomaching 6 years for a player of this skillset. I suppose LTIR and buyouts are just part of the business now.

Assuming the cap moves up in the second half of that contract it won’t look bad at all.

High but not "UFA regrettable on day one" high. Let's see how accurate this report is.

I don't love the rumored contract, but I admit that the prospect of Coleman and Mangiapane on the same line is pretty sexy. Two fast and ferocious forecheckers.

This has to be legit, you wouldn’t make up a number like $4.9 million.

This AAV is acceptable.

Having flashbacks of Troy Brouwer. 3rd liner on cup winning team getting too much money.

I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it either.

Won’t be as bad when the Brouwer buyout money is off the books. That’s how I’ll justify it.

Way better RW option than the last handful of guys that were brought in to play there.

The contract will look bad in 3 years though.

It’s not my money. If he helps the team and adds value I think it’s great.

Hoping they add Brossoit as a backup goalie and potentially Ritchie as another free agent signing.

I think the next move after that is via trade. I think the trade will be the big one. Still don’t think it’s Eichel.

I feel like Brouwer, Neal, and now potentially Coleman, I go through the same line of thinking.

“Well it’s a bit too long, but if we get 2-3 years of good value out of the player, it’s worth it. “

Brouwer we got 1 year of good value. Neal we got 0 years. Hopefully if this rumour is true, Coleman bucks the trend, and we at least get more than 1 year of an effective player.

If true, I actually don't hate it. A year too long for sure, but not terrible.

It will get compared to Brouwer and Neal...but the difference is that Coleman is actually elite at his role.

He might not put up as many points but he's one of the top defensive wingers in the NHL.

I'd say he's a bit of a Mark Stone light to be honest.

Terms is 2 years too long, but $4.9M is fine for what he brings.

If Hayes is making this up and he ends up signing closer to $6M, he's going to lose any Flames fans he had listening to his dollar store version of Spittin Chicklets lol

I like the player. The contract will be fine first ~3 years, iffy on after that.
