Hi everyone -- thanks for the support.
I'll apologize that we started slow in Calgary -- it's been a progress for us to scale up in so many markets at once (we also added Minnesota, St. Louis and Pittsburgh very quickly along with the six other Canadian cities in September). We will be in more U.S. markets in the next month.
Our coverage will continue to increase locally and nationally. When/if the Flames make the playoffs, we will be around the team with 2-3 writers, including someone on the road with them for as long as they're playing. The intention right now is to continue to scale up as people sign up, and my hope is we'll have a functional sports department in the city by August. (How big that is is TBD.)
Here's a 30% off deal I'm happy to give to everyone reading here. Any further questions please hit me up on Twitter.
We are independent and writer-driven and are investing all of the subscription revenue we get into staff and travel. In Toronto, that's meant incredible growth given we now have 21,000 subscribers here.
As a Western Canadian who hates what's happened to the papers out there, I hope we can do the same there soon. Feel free to send me suggestions for who you would like to see hired.

That’s the Gaudreau and Monahan effect. That doesn’t explain his current 19.7 per cent shooting percentage and it’s, of course, likely to regress, but for what it’s worth the amount he over-performs his shooting percentage hasn’t changed much from year-to-year (47 per cent this season vs. 41 per cent last season). That he can out-perform shouldn’t be surprising, he’s got a pretty heavy shot, and now that he’s taking them from better areas he’s become lethal in the offensive zone.

Personally more people should subscribe to the Athletic if only for the fact that the Edmonton Oiler shill media singled you out as a group of writers that are cheering against the org. and want the team to fail.
More than happy to help you succeed if it continues to piss off the Oilers media and organization (let's be serious you know if complaints are coming from the Oilers shill media it started within the org. first).

So Calgarypuck has Mirtle and Down Goes Brown? Wow, now we just need Damien Cox to sign up to complete the Toronto takeover.

I like The Athletic. I’d like to see more Flames material but the writing is honest, agenda free and high quality.
It is well worth subscribing to this site.

No thanks. For the most part Mirtle and DGB actually are knowledgeable and attempt to product good content.
Damien Cox is useless.

Yes, I'm quite aware. That trio would be like that of my favourite film: The Good, The Good, and The Ugly.

James, you should hire sureloss, The Athletic will break more Flames news than Sportsnet, TSN, and the team's twitter feed combined.
Been a subscriber since the start of the season and am very happy with the product, in particular Justin Bourne's system breakdowns and Corey Pronman's prospect writing have been excellent.

Scorp can feel free to correct me, but I'm pretty sure it's the super secret moniker "Down Goes Brown"

Three guesses as to what Down Goes Brown's username would be. The first two don't count.

Scott Wheeler wrote an article ranking the Canadian NHL teams prospect pools - Canucks have the top ranking followed by the Flames.
Other items of note: He ranks Adam Fox as the top Flames prospect and also ranks Valimaki ahead of Juolevi.
