So to recap the signings, and the discussion about what they would cost in the aggregate, they came in as follows:

Lazar: $950
Ferland: $1,750
Kulak: $650
Bennett: $1,950

Total: $5,300,000

Treliving is a wizard

It would be interesting to bump the thread where this was discussed, because very few people predicted the total to be anywhere near this low. I think I predicted $5,850k or something like that, and my guess was lower than most.

Bennett and Tkachuk spent the summer in Toronto training under Gary Roberts. They should be rarin' to go.

Lazar-Bennett-Tkachuk anyone?

Then the Wizards' work is done!
I think Treliving would be the first to tell you his work is never done.

I'd want to see Tkachuk - Bennett - Ferland at one point just for the chaos alone.

I like it.

I hope he does get paid huge in his next contract, that'll mean he ripped it up the next two seasons.

Do they sign someone like Jagr or hold onto the cap space and see if they can get someone for cheap from a team that needs to ditch salaries before the start of the season?

That might violate public order bylaws.

I would love to see this, except for one thing:

Tkachuk - Bennett - Jagr

is even better!

If they can get Jagr, it'd be a marketing boon. And we have a need of a top two scorer of all time. It's amazing that a 45 year old man is still a top nine winger.

Good deal. I'm sure Bennett was pushing for a 1 year deal and the flames were trying to push for a 3 year.

Here's hoping that he rips it up this season. I think with any young player, confidence is such a crucial part of progression. Really hope he gets some points early on, some momentum to build off.

Can hockey start already!!!

Fantastic signing number! With all the stuff from yesterday you wouldn't think it would be wrapped up this fast with this low of a number. Definitely way down from what I expected even from the wizard.

Treliving isn't a perfect GM but man, he is a damn good one. Now sign Jagr!

Yeah that's be a fun one. But then Gaudreau has nobody making space for him. IMO he needs one of Ferland or Tkachuk to compliment his strengths/weaknesses.
