Not necessarily Apple but he mentioned the stores that carry Apple products - the best buys, wal marts, Telus stores

Hopefully soon the wife keeps trying to talk to me during Narcos and the voice prompt rewind would be very helpful

I'm currently using the 5s and the phone has no issues so if it's worth a $100 i may wait the 2 months for the 6s 64gb

It might be hard to wait but there was a Boxing Day deal for new iPhone 6 purchases last year.

Text message forwarding question: Do the devices need to be on the same network?
I know that some "continuity" features require being on the same network. Handoff, using your Mac to make phone calls via your phone, etc. But I'm not sure about text message forwarding.
In theory, if my phone was sitting at home, would texts sent to that phone be sent to my other devices, regardless of their location? Assuming, of course, that they were connected to the internet, all linked with my iCloud ID, and configured to allow text forwarding.

Not sure if Telus works the same as Rogers, but by going through Rogers retention department I was able to get a better than market plan and $250 hardware credit on a 64GB 6S.
There is a good thread here on dealing with Telus retention and what types of plans you can get: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/merge...an-617794/492/
Took a quick look and saw people mentioning $150 hardware credit offered.

Unless I missed it, surprised no one posted this. I'm an Android fan for sure, but fair is fair:

Where are the benchmarks in the article? I wouldn't be surprised if it's true but that article doesn't have anything to back it up.

I agree. I had a iPhone 5 and 5s and they were night and day. Everything from Siri being awful slow to the camera not being good. I mean in comparison to my 5S which I feel has another 2 years left in it.

The new iPhone 6S beats the new MacBook in single-core performance on Geekbench, and is within spitting distance in multi-core. That’s astounding.
|
Wow, that's impressive. The new iPad Pro is going to be even faster.

To be fair, which Macbook are they comparing it to?
If it's just "the Macbook" then yeah, that laptop (if it even qualifies to be called that) is seriously underpowered.

Speaking of the Mac and performance, again looking at single-core performance, Geekbench results put the iPhone 6S at roughly the same score as a 2012 or 2013 MacBook Air

Yeah it's the new Macbook.. it's 1.1GHz and yeah it's pretty underpowered, but it's still a laptop running full OSX, and the 6S is a phone so still pretty cool IMO.

I've now decided the land rush on "iPhone drop test" videos is my favourite thing ever. As of right now it appears there's a dozen or so of these videos up on youtube, mostly from Australia.
Just imagine trying to explain this to some one from the past... heck even 10 years ago.
2015 guy: "Yeah Apple released a cell phone, it's a huge suceess"
2005 guy: "Whoa really? What's it cost?"
2015: "Oh about $900"
2005: "$900?! For a damn cell phone?! And people pay that?"
2015: "Yeah, some people even buy it with the express purpose of destroying it"
2005: "...."
2015: "So they can make money... on the internet"
It's absolute madness, and I love it.

That Macbook air is up there with my favourite laptops ever. I still use it as a secondary laptop and it rips. Nothing makes me doubt the importance of processor power like that thing. Obviously I wouldn't run AutoCAD or something on it, but for standard Adobe CC apps and iMovie stuff, it's great.

Got my 6S delivered this morning, first impressions:
- Noticeably heavier than my 6 from work. Has that nice iPhone 4 weight again.
- Feels much grippier on the back and sides. One of my biggest complaints about the 6.
- Really really fast.

Anyone else running El Capitan yet?
I installed it on my 2010 Macbook Pro and I've been pleasantly surprised by it, feels a little snappier all around, start up time is definitely improved (I've got an SSD in this machine) and battery life seems to be marginally improved as well.
Upgrading the OS was my last Hail Mary before biting the bullet and replacing this machine, looks like I'll get a bit more time out of it yet.
