Default Vinyl Siding Advice

I'm hoping someone here has some experience and can point me in the right direction.

Need to finish up a corner of my house but cannot find the right size of J Channel anywhere to match what's there. Have been to Home Depot, Rona, Lowes and Monarch Siding & Roofing. They all have 3/4" which is standard but it's the dimension that conceals the edge that I need a bit smaller.

The smaller J Channel on top is what I need. Am I out of luck, discontinued and no longer available?

Thank you

I think you’re going to have to get a new house. Sorry.

There should be a manufacturer stamp on the back of the old stuff, every couple of feet on the back side. hopefully it wasn't ordered bulk from china and you can find it locally.

Why do you need this level of detail? Seems to me just using the new stuff wouldn't be that big an isssue. It won't be perfect but it would work wouldn't it?

The siding for my new house came from Roof Mart.

If you can't find a supplier, see if there's a local tube bender or machine shop somewhere. They would probably be able to tool and/or bend about anything to your spec.

Heading to Royal Building and Roof Marty today to keep searching, thanks.

Entire house is done in the smaller stuff, for uniformity I would love to find the same J channel. The corner would have old and new style 4" apart and be noticeable.

I’m literally at Royal’s vinyl plant in Toronto today. I’m afraid I can’t fit a 12 ft pc of jchannel into my carry on bag.

Looks like cutting the wide stuff down is my only option, struck out at Royal and Roofmart as well.

I suspect after a couple months you'll never notice the larger J size again; and likely no one else will ever pick up on that level of detail. Apologies in advance as this is going to come across brutally, but we're talking a minor trim piece on a vinyl sided house here, not a French chateau restoration.

Yeah, but I would notice and it would bother me everytime I looked at it. Shaved a 1/4" off the wider j channel and finished it off tonight. Got a nice straight cut, looks good.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Not the first tine during my renos I've needed discontinued materials. Lesson of the thread, even when buying sinks, if you want them to match, buy them all at once. Don't even wait 9 months. They'll be gone and not available anymore.
