Brutal. Pelting players with beer and dumping snow on a special needs kid. I didn't think Ottawa had such fans... man.

Every fan base has its case of bad apples. Its really the unfortunate cause of mixing alcohol with a dudebro mentality.

Pelting beer at players are bad, but dumping snow on kid that has special needs are despicable. I'm beginning to really disliking that teams, dirty players and dirty coach.

It would be cool if the REDBLACKS gave the young man and his parents free tickets to the Grey Cup game as a way of saying sorry.

The CFL released the following statement regarding Rose and his suspension:
“We are extremely reluctant to take an action that could prevent an athlete from joining his teammates for what may be the most important game of his life. But there is an another principle at stake, one which has very significant implications for our league and sport in general.
If we fail to send a strong signal when there is physical abuse of an official, whatever the circumstances, we risk sending the wrong message to not only the athletes in our league but young and aspiring athletes, coaches and even parents throughout sport. Officials are an important part of athletic competition, responsible for its integrity. While their contributions too often go unsung, we cannot allow them to be disrespected or, worse, abused.
For these reasons, the Canadian Football League has notified Jonathan Rose of the Ottawa REDBLACKS that he is being assessed a one game suspension for pushing an official during last Sunday’s Eastern Final in Ottawa.”

Who are we kidding - he will appeal and then be suspended for the 2019 season opener.

I mean it's possible that the CFL could hear the appeal and make a ruling by Sunday, but to steal a line from CaptainCrunch, the league usually moves with the speed of congealed gravy in these matters.

Apparently Dave has a nickname for the Bombers coaching staff: The Canadian Mafia. Hilarious. Glad he apologized, he is making his living north of the border.

Rose is appealing, of course.
Hopefully they can do this quickly - I don't see any grey area in his case, and the precedent has been set by the league that if you touch the official, you get kicked out + a game. The importance of the game hopefully shouldn't be considered, you can't let these things slide and be normalized.

There was one team Trevor Harris just couldn’t seem to figure out this season. The Calgary Stampeders had Harris’ number, sweeping the season series while holding the REDBLACKS to just 423 net yards in the span of two losses.
Harris was chased from both games, struggling to an average of 4.5 yards per attempt while completing just 52.9 per cent of his throws. He failed to throw a touchdown pass and threw three interceptions.
|

Whether Ottawa can get some pressure on Stamps quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell is up in the air, but in two regular season contests it just didn’t happen. The Stampeders held a 7-1 edge in sacks and a 10-3 gap in takeaways when the two clubs met, led by a three-sack game by Micah Johnson.
|
Quote:
In the Stamps’ first nine games, before the season-ending injury to Jorden, the offence averaged 2.9 completions of 30-plus yards per game. The number dropped to 2.8 with Jorden’s injury, but it was Begelton’s injury that really changed the tune of the Stamps’ offence. Once operating without Jorden, Begelton or Daniels, the Stampeders dropped to 1.2 completions of 30-plus yards per game in six contests.
Even with the addition of Chris Matthews and the emergence of Markeith Ambles, the Stamps have totaled seven plays of 30-plus yards in their last six games, including zero in the Western Final vs. the Bombers. But it hasn’t been for a lack of try, with Mitchell attacking deep on several of the team’s opening plays.

I like Ambles, but I hope to see Daniels on Sunday. With Romar Morris going down the way he did, Terry Williams will also be inserted into the lineup which could provide a spark in the return game.

Forecast for Sunday in Edmonton is a mix of sun and clouds with a high of -4 and a light wind out of the south. Not bad for late November.

There's no doubt the big play has been missing from the offense as Ambles has a 10 YPC average which is what you expect from a running back. I agree if Daniels is full go with another week of practice that I would prefer to see him play.

No way this gets heard before Sunday. That’s how the CFL operates. You could kill a guy on the field, appeal the suspension and play the next week. It’s a joke.
Would be nice if the CFL Officials Association stepped up and made their thoughts known. Then again, maybe they will in the penalty count Sunday.

According to Arash Madani, Rose can play because his appeal will take place after the grey cup.
