Yeah, I get that CT is trying to not cause panic or something, but if there is a suspicious package or a car/pedestrian incident, they should tell people. At least you can expect that the time for trains to start running again is going to be awhile and you don’t have to guess if “mechanical” issue is a fatality or a really mechanical issue on the line.

^ Exactly. Posts from other twitter users are more informative than the official word, and that's a shame.
If a random twitter user can tell me that the track is blocked and the trains still aren't moving, surely Calgary Transit can do better than "we're 10 minutes behind on the red line" - after already waiting for 30.
That's the difference between standing there on the platform waiting like a tool, taking Uber, using other buses, getting the wife to come and get me, or just walking somewhere to pass the time, etc.

When they don't specify a time I don't even think they know.

Quit telling people the transit secrets.
Also walking beats shuttle buses in almost every scenario.

I found that out the hard way when the during a morning commute the train train was going as far as Anderson.Train operator said that was as far as we are going and shuttle buses will be there "shortly" to take us to the next usable station. We were the first group kicked off the train and an additional 300+ people were arriving at the station every 5 mins.
Being at a garage I thought this shouldn't take long, but it was an hour before the first shuttle bus arrived. It was just bedlam as the buses never stopped in the same spot so a mass of people were running for trains. Probably waited 30 mins before I ended up taking a MRU bus to another station so I could hop on a bus that went down town. I probably could have walked downtown if I left right when they initially kicked us off.
Whenever CT says shortly I laugh.

Probably the same reason we are still using the same paper tickets and passes since the 1980s.

you might be onto something
because when the announcement is an ad
"hello C-Train riders, hope you're having a wonderful day as it is +26 degrees. Did you know this weekend, the flea market will open from 10am to 10pm"
Those announcements come in crystal clear!

To balance things a little, sometimes CT does good:

Quote:
A Calgary bus driver is being hailed as a "godsend" for saving a sleeping family of six — plus their dog and pet rabbit — from a northeast house fire early Tuesday morning.
"The firemen, after it was pretty well over, came and told us that if the bus driver hadn't of seen the fire, we would have probably lost the house and our lives at the same time," said Bastarache.
The bus driver, Vincent Fleck, said he just did what anyone would do in that situation.

So how does CP deliver these things? The LRV couplers would be incompatible with the AAR couplers that the railroad uses. Or do they put them on flat cars?

They come on flat decks. I'm a big kid everytime I drive by these, with the big "do not hump" stamp on the plastic, brings a smile to my face everytime

Will be interesting to hear more about this one. Not sure how two busses can have a head on collision on a 4 lane road where they presumably are in the outside lanes. Mechanical or medical issue?

They were obviously attempting a door to door passenger transfer

I'm not a rocket scientist, but I can see who was on the wrong side of the road there.
