Default Alfredsson Wants New Owner for Senators

Apparently, in an interview, Daniel Alfredsson told former Ottawa Sun reporter that he and the mayor of Ottawa both want a new owner for the Ottawa Senators.

https://twitter.com/user/status/1000897129882140672

Looks like Alfredsson also asked her to keep that 'off the record' for obvious reasons, but clearly she decided not to.

Melnyk is basically a real-life Mr. Burns/Scrooge.

The guy needs a liver transplant so uses his pulpit as the owner of the Sens to put out that he needs a donor. Gets a donor right away. Then goes right back to being a cheap prick and treating the fans/players like garbage.

Quote:
"The donor has asked me to tell you that the motivation to do this is to help Mr. Melnyk return to good health, to enjoy his family and friends, and most importantly to bring the Stanley Cup home to the Ottawa Senators," he said. "The donor hopes that others will be inspired by this story and will also consider organ donation."

Anonymous Donor: So Eugene, about that liver I gave you...I'm gonna need it back.

If Alfie wanted this to be off the record, shame on the that reporter for making this public.

I read the article she wrote, and it's disgusting how she tries to justify what she did. Alife made it known it was off the record, but she didnt' believe him?? Brutal ''reporting''. I don't even care what he said. The real story is how terrible of a reporter she is.

Is off the record even a thing anymore? If you want something kept off the record don’t tell it to a reporter.

And If that reporter wants another interview in their career they will respect that.

I guess that will be her one big scoop. Nobody's ever going to tell her anything again in confidence for good reason.

Every reporter I have talked to has respected my off-record requests. This is pretty disgraceful.

Isn't her explanation that he retroactively asked for it to be off the record? How long after he said it did he decide that? It makes a difference.

Off the record is still pretty sacred for reporters.

Probably doesn't get said enough, but the media in Calgary really does a good job IMO. Print, TV, radio, internet... generally no drama (other than maybe the new arena). Even the more "controversial" people like Francis do enough good stuff to offset the "other" stuff...

Is what Francis writes really that controversial? It's mostly rumours and probably a nice distraction to what the team is really doing.

I hate giving Francis credit...but I must agree. Barely anything leaks out of Calgary, and sure it's probably due to top-down effect of the front office, but the integrity of the city reporters probably plays into it as well.

This woman is disgusting, and of course playing the rebel-journalism card.

If your motivation was likes and traffic, you're not reporting this for the better of the Sens community. She disrespected someone for personal gain and knows it.

This was also his opinion, not news. I can't imagine a lot of journalists are lining up to congratulate her for integrity.

On the one hand he's right. On the other hand, Melnyk did pay Alredsson 10s of millions of dollars, so it's a bit rude to say.

That's a weird way to look at things. The money wasn't a gift.
