Unsurprisingly, looks like Kulak has the inside track for the #6D spot. Curious if Andersson also being in the same group means anything

Captain of the Albany Devils for the last 4 years.
Granted he doesn't make the team out of camp as 13/14 forward, I'd really like to see Hathaway earn the Captain in Stockton. Listening to Huska on The Fan, get was glowing about Hathaway's attitude when being sent up/down between big club and minors. The guy oozes leadership and the type of attitude young players should look up to

Not in the recent pattern for the Flames to name someone who can be called up to be captain of their farm team:

Mike Angelidis
Aaron Johnson
Nolan Yonkman
Dean Arsene
Quinton Lang

Are the last 5 captains of the Flames AHL team and IIRC all of them on AHL only deals and all of them in their 30s.

I'd really like to see Hathaway as the 12th forward full time.

I like that I can't decide who would win the game between Team McNeil and Team Johnson.

From the link: All on-ice sessions are open for viewing to the public.

If it's the same as last year, just go to the North East entrance above the ticket office and there will be an usher to open the door.

A few potentially interesting battles based on the pools.

Brouwer vs Ferland
Valimaki vs Kulak
Foo vs Lazar vs Shinkaruk
Gilles vs Lack
Anderson vs Stone
Hathaway vs Gazdic
Glass vs Hamilton
Kylington vs Wotherspoon

Hathaway should be on the Calgary Flames this year unless he really stinks it up in camp. I think they bought out Bouma partially to make room for him. I've got him pencilled in for that 12th/13th forward role.

Darren Haynes' training camp breakdown:
http://www.flamesfrom80feet.ca/2017/...n-of-whos.html

I didn't realize this tidbit about one of the PTOs:
Quote:
Daniel Maggio is most famous for being the guy who knocked Brian McGrattan out cold in that frightening moment two years ago in the AHL. The 26-year-old has never played an NHL game and last year spent 33 games with the Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL). Let's face it, he's not here to make the Flames, but I would not be surprised to see him in the line-up in Edmonton on Monday night during the split squad games.

Brouwer vs Ferland (closer battle then we'd have thought)
Valimaki vs Kulak
Foo vs Lazar vs Shinkaruk (easily)
Gilles vs Lack
Anderson vs Stone
Hathaway vs Gazdic
Glass vs Hamilton
Kylington vs Wotherspoon
My picks/guesses in bold.

On Fan 960 this morning Treliving said that Parsons tweaked his back in Penticton, but the Flames are hopeful that all is fine. He also said some encouraging comments on Rittich - said many consider him one of the best goalies in the AHL. Is also interested to see how Gilles looks after another summer of training - Flames still see him as a terrific prospect.

update on Joly:

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
#Flames have sent 2017 pick D'Artagnan Joly back to his junior team with a back injury. Didn't participate in Penticton.

I just spent 45 mins reading all the Haynes articles about the penticton games and Gully's description of why things went wrong etc..
