Tuesday morning sports injury. I'm off the bike for a couple of weeks and no lacrosse Monday nights. I dislocated the pinkie playing basketball. Tendon and ligament damage as well.

I would say the part from the bridge to Seton is within the city limits so therefore part of Deerfoot. Was it what you'd consider safe to travel there? (Concerned about your safety more than anything.)
The shoulder is super wide and there are no turnoffs to cross so I never really feared for my safety. I'm also going uphill for most of it so my speeds aren't crazy.
There's a lot of guys who park in the middle before the bridge to go fishing, and I consider getting in and out of there to be more dangerous.
I just don't want to get a ticket for riding there if it's illegal.

Both items probably should be addressed and updated. I'm guessing the City has not updated their traffic bylaws since Deerfoot was pushed south ans is now a full high speed freeway. Cyclists probably should not be allowed south of Stoney and for sure they need to put an end to vehicles stopping and pulling off the road wherever they feel like (ie fishing) unless it is for mechanical or safety reasons. It's just a matter of time before there is a serious accident at that bridge.
I agree. The speeds are no different than many of the highways around the city or in the country but have better quality/wider shoulders.
I don't really see an issue with letting people travel from Dunbow to Seton/Cranston on the shoulder because there aren't turnoffs between. Once you're past Dunbow you're allowed to ride on the road.
If/when Calgary expands past Dunbow it should be shut down to cyclists.
I really need a better rain jacket. Rain pants and shoe covers worked great. Did I see you today, Bigtime?
We didn't cross paths today, I was running a little behind since I had to go and get my rain gear out. Gave my bike a good wipe down after that ride in, I hate all that little pathway/road grit that gets everywhere. I'm starting to seriously consider something like a Pure Fix for conditions like this. Much less stuff to get gunked up.
