Ugh, if Chicago does take them out then the additional joy of the games being in Edmonton while they've choked out of the dance is awesome, but the possibility that the lottery balls could then gift them Lafreniere will hang a sense of dread over the rest of the playoffs.

Yeah I’m rooting for Edmonton in the play-in. I won’t be able to stand that.
They aren’t a playoff threat.

Nope, I can never root for them. I hope they get swept and shut out every game.
Then let them hope for a lottery ball and once again get crushed in a matter of days when they fail at that too.

Nah it’ll be even better if they beat a goalieless hawks team and start planning the parade route, to then get swept. It’s a win win.

If Crawford can't play, I don't see Chicago being much of a threat, unfortunately.

Really? I see the opposite. Lehner has outplayed Crawford this season. This could be his chance to play for a longterm contract. Crawford has not been right for awhile now. The injuries are catching up to him.

Lehner is in Vegas. Chicago traded him at the deadline because they were out of the playoff race.

Only issue there is Lehner plays for the Knights. They would be relying on Malcom Subban

Or Colin Delia. I actually think he could be a dark-horse to play out this series for the Hawks.

Subban won his last three starts (all with Vegas), including one against St. Louis, so maybe there's hope yet.
Unfortunately, he allowed 5, 5, and 3 goals in those 3 games, so it will probably take equally bad performances from Smith/Kostinem for Chicago to win... so, there's a chance.

I'm looking forward to the Mike Smith patented "let in crappy goal, and throw up hands like his defence let him down" reaction.

Ya, I really hope we see a bunch of those moments. Would be glorious.

Staples and Stauffer are mad that Tippett isn't the coach of the year and they demand all the awards. For Leon.
I really think this team bombs in the first round, Edmonton deserves to have it bomb in the first round. The rest of the NHL will enjoy Edmonton bombing in the first round.

I’ve seriously never disliked a goalie more. Doing that #### on national tv makes you a terrible teammate, I don’t care what he was like in the room. Although I doubt it was different.
That team will completely implode after one bad game.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Would much rather have Edmonton lose right away and be closer to a 1OA than winning and being closer to a Stanley Cup (so to speak).
They fail, routinely, with their 1OA picks. Let em ruin Lafreniere.

Yep. Get swept by the Blackhawks would be ideal. And imagine if they got 1OA? That would be 5 firsts in 11 years with only one playoff appearance. Hilarity...It’s not like Lafreniere would really add anything as they’d still be a one line team. And then good luck paying him in the future.

If they get Lafreniere they will be forced to move on from 1 of McDavid, Draisaitl, or Laf. So no, I'm not too worried if they won the lottery.
5 1st OA's in 11 years is worse than any other sports franchise in the history of the big 4. They would get so much flack for it.

Well, "moving on" from one of those three players would net the Oilers some very significant assets, so it should be a bit worrying for any true Oiler-hater.

Why is anyone worried if Edmonton wins the lottery?
They've won it several times and drafted #1 and look the veritable plethora of Cups they've raked in during that span.
Whats another 1st overall?
You know what it is? Cap suicide.
They are already basically an over-paid AHL roster with a couple of superstars.
The Oilers wanted to recreate the 80s and in one way they succeeded. They've got a couple great forwards but the defensive resilience of undercooked noodles.
