I'm pretty sure he dented the crossbar.

He plays a stronger game than Czarnik, that might be what Neal and Ryan need down low.

He will be hearing from the league...no question.

Interestingly, DOPS has made no mention of a hearing on Twitter. They did announce Bertuzzi is getting one for his sucker punch. (This is not a repeat from 2004).

That Bertuzzi sucker punch was egregious. I have to think its a 10 game minimum for bare fist sucker punch from the bench like that. He wound up like he was throwing a baseball. In my mind, it deserves 20 games. Doing stuff like that is so gutless and dangerous.
Kunitz should also be suspended for 3-5 games for that flying elbow.
As always, it's all up to the Wheel of Justice and you never know what your gonna get.

That Bertuzzi sucker punch was pretty bad.
Kunitz and Bert should both be in the 5 game range but I bet both are maybe 1 or 2 games.

I don't think Kunitz meant to do it, but it's still a dangerous play with direct contact to the head.
1 game maximum is my guess, if anything.

He made a couple impressive saves but lets not kid ourselves, against a better opponent we probably don't win with goaltending like what smith put forward the last two games.
I don't mean to sound pessimistic but I just still saw the same mike smith we've seen for most of the season in the last two games, minus the absolute back breakers that he was giving up.
I think he is making steps in the right direction but I think he is still fighting the puck too often and the flames will really do themselves a disservice if they instantly go back to smith being the #1 goalie here and getting majority of the starts again.

Opinion differs among "experts", for my part, I would like to see Kunitz suspended for the season because, he has nothing left, and I want him off of our roster.
But, I digress, NHL Network guys, Stevens and Grimson, felt that the 5 plus Game was enough, as, they felt it was a "hockey play" where the awkward positioning of the elbow was due the position of the puck, rather than any attempt to even make contact with Hamonic. Others have reported that some Canadian commentators, would like to see a suspension.
Myself, I saw it as an unfortunate accident, much in the way of being injured by getting hit with a puck, or a freak injury on a legal hit. Not to say that this was a legal hit, but, it seemed to be punished appropriately by the on-ice guys, and supplementary discipline for an accident seems counter-intuitive, accidents DO occur, and the precedent then, would be to demand a suspension for EVERY stick foul that causes injury, even unintentional ones, and that would be impractical and, generally, unfair.
Hamonic, like many hockey players, sucked it up and continued, to his credit, and I hope that there are no lingering issues from this unfortunate incident.

If anything, it was "accidentally, on purpose", but it really did look accidental to me as he was looking to play the puck. Still, you have to be a little more aware out there as it obviously really hurt Hamonic.
I think 1 game is as much as it should get.

I'm fine with the in-game penalty. It looked more careless than calculated, which 5 and game covers, imo.

I don't see Kunitz sitting for more than a game, mostly because Harmonic came back and played after the elbow.

Agreed 100%
That was certainly a penalty and Kunitz paid the price, pretty sure 5min major + game is sufficient punishment for that.
Can't let the result dictate the penalty, it needs to be action based

Kunitz knew full well what he was doing. He has a history and should be suspended.

A major penalty punishes the team far more than the player. Getting kicked out of that game, without any supplementary discipline, doesn't cost Kunitz a cent. While I think a suspension might be excessive, a fine is probably in order.

Detroit’s Tyler Bertuzzi has been suspended for two games for unsportsmanlike conduct/roughing on Colorado’s Matt Calvert.
