Have to go with experience in this situation of appointing a team. In the end, the more criteria the better, rather than just the best ranked team.
Plus it's Morris. He can win playing any variation of curling.

Here were their three criteria
  • Final CMDR standings for the 2022 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials.
  • International competitive experience at the Olympic Games and World Curling Championships.
  • Combined win/loss percentages of individual players in mixed doubles games during the trials qualifying period (March 15, 2019 to December 14, 2021).

Well almost 1/2 way through the Scotties already and NB with Andrea Crawford at 5-0 has to be the surprise so far. Expanding the field has certainly watered down what is a fairly weak field. With the Jones team off to China as well as Rachel Homan being away and Tracey Fluery still unable to join her team. Einarson likely to march on through to the playoffs with Walker in their pool. Hopefully Fleury can get cleared to return soon to give a competitive boost in the other pool.

Fleury has been cleared....will be back later today.

Watching Laura Walker this week, she has been dreadful. Hasn't hit the 80% mark in a single game. Missing easy hit and stick shots, missing simple draws and giving up huge ends. How she beat Scheidigger in the AB final is a mystery to me.

Einarsons team is a machine.

Simple. Walker misses her husband.

This feels like some rando bonspiel, not a national championship. Make the teams qualify, have relegation or some play-in tournament, I don't care. Literally anything but this garbage.

Making the Scotties or the Brier used to mean something. Now Curling Canada is giving out participation ribbons.

We are seeing a lot of first and second year teams this year which is good for the future but I don't think many of these teams know yet what it takes to perform well in the Scotties, it is truly a marathon, made worse by being in a bubble. For this reason we are seeing NT and NB, both teams lead by veterans, having such a strong showings while the younger teams look to have petered out early. As I type this, NWT looks to have made the play offs for the first time ever!!! (8-3 after 8 in tie breaker).

The young teams from PQ, BC, SK and MB will only get better and more experience for the newly formed Carey rink and the Duncan team will make for better competition in the years to come. That being said, we will likely see a mixing up of the ladies again over the next year or two as the next Olympic qualifying cycle begins. Hopefully these next couple years can be "normal" years and we will see more events played and some excellent development within the mix of young ladies teams.

Yesterday Manitoba lost a game in which they put up a 5 spot in the second end. That's not easy.

I'm surprised Birt of PEI didn't make the playoffs this year given the competition. She is solid.

Tracey and Selena curled like garbage, wasn't a surprise if you watched the game.

NB is crumbling under the pressure a little bit right now. Nobody expected them (probably including themselves) to be where they are and they’ll need to show some real guts to bring this home.

Really poor decisions the last couple ends...but they have 1 more life.

Im cheering for NB, the maritimes in general dont win these things a lot.

It's no fun unless you spot the other team a 4 point lead.

I enjoyed the Scotties as always. Such a great Canadian event and TSN does an amazing job in its coverage. Great to see a sport where female athletes get an equal stage as the men.

The quality of play sufferred without the Jennifer Jones rink and Rachel Homan skipping her team. It was evident in the playoffs with NB and NO playing quite poorly but both finishing in the final three. Also have to say that like all live sports its not the same without the fans. I hope Thunder Bay gets to host again soon with fans in attendance.

That's to take away nothing from the Einarson rink. They are completely deserving of the 3-peat. They really never wavered and seemed to have a much more calm, collected, and confident approach than any of the other teams. True champions. Its kind of wierd to think of them in the same breath as other multi-time champions like Jennifer Jones and Colleen Jones because they seem so young. Or maybe its just that I'm getting old...haha.

Looking forward to Olympic curling and then the Brier.
