Just wanted to mention that Dobber Prospects calls Dustin Wolf getting picked at 214th "crazy". They see him as the team's #1 G prospect in 2-3 years.

Yeah, I find it impossible to get excited about a goalie prospect anymore.

I can't believe it's been 7 years since the Flames drafted Gillies, and he's now 25. That guy was a legit good prospect and should be our starter by now. Outstanding in college, played for Team USA, now all he does is put up terrible AHL campaigns.

Hopefully Wolf bucks the trend finally.

For those worried about his listed height, here's a photo from the Development Camp of Wolf standing beside Parsons, who is listed as 6'1"...

If Wolf is shorter, it's not by much.

It'd be funny if Wolf wasn't smaller than Johnny and the only player we've ever drafted that looks way younger than Johnny. Wolf legit looks like he's 14. I think they just drafted him to make Johnny feel better about himself:

Nope. 5'11" (Wolf) > 5'9" (Gaudreau).

And if Gaudreau is 5'9":

The only one of those photos that is recent is his draft photo.

That photo of him with the Kings' mascot is from December 2016, when he was 15 years old. All the other photos are at least a year old.

Was referring to weight. Gaudreau is listed at 5 lbs heavier than Wolf.

Goalies need the weight to win those puck battles in the corner.

EDIT: Looked at the usernames of the photo posters, but not the quoted post. Ignore my ignorance. Carry on.

Skittles are far heavier than most people think.

Wolf's just as tall as Juuse Saros. Just needs to gain 20 lbs.

By modern standards 6'1" is considered "small".

Looking at his parents, I wouldn't expect hit to grow much in height.

It looks like he was already taller than both of them over a year ago.

The reality is that in all sports there are plenty of success story with athletes that are not ideal height and many teams have benefitted from other teams putting too much stock in measurables. That kind of thinking led to the Dolphins signing 6'4" Dante Culpepper instead of 6' Drew Brees (that and him coming off shoulder surgery). We all know how that worked out for the Saints who were very fortunate the Dolphins passed on him. The drafting of Kyler Murray 1st overall as well as several <6' tall players in the latest NHL draft is telling that there's starting to be a shift back to skill over outright measurables. I'm not saying Wolf is going to become a HOF player or even an NHL regular but given his stellar junior career there's little doubt he was a major steal for the Flames.

Joking aside, I think that's a good sign for those critical of his size. Means he's not done growing
