Default Confirmation of Receipt upon Delivery

I need to ship a sold expensive item to a buyer within Canada. I am curious if there is a delivery option available which REQUIRES a receiver to open the package and confirm receiving the actual item in front of a witness upon delivery (NOT JUST A SIGNATURE).

You might want to send it via canada post courier with the requirement the receiver has to pick it up at a postal outlet.
Just don't forget on any courier to get the extra liability coverage.

That just confirms receiving a box. I need to have the box opened and confirmed that the item is there in front of a third-party witness.

Never heard of such a service. But would be useful for ebay sales and charge backs.

sorry. I was just thinking of making sure the right person got the delivery.

I tried a quick google and didn't see anything for what you require.

It sounds like you might want to look at Escrow.com.

They can do exactly what you're looking for.

This looks like it is still there to protect the buyer not the seller. Escrow holds money until buyer confirms then releases to seller, that isn't helping the seller at all.

That’s the gist of it. There are little to no protection measures available to sellers shipping goods against unscrupulous or malicious buyers.

i wonder if you could send the package to a third party like a lawyer or maybe a notary with arrangements for a immediate open/inspection.

i'd imagine that would cost $200 plus to get a lawyer invovled

Yes, I thought of it too and I do have a friend I could ask to assist. I was hoping someone might know a delivery service that does it though.

Typically a delivery signature is proof enough that the goods are received. Just ensure you take photos of the goods packed in the box prior to shipping. This works fine for businesses shipping goods worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in my line of work.
