My sense is the market is going to be TIGHT for any player with a high cap, so not getting an ideal return here, but striking early in the off-season to net some return for a guy I can't afford to bring back.

Again will make a similar deal with Slavin for a team interested.

The Los Angeles Kings got together with the Ohio Winter Coat Aficionados to complete a trade. We knew that once the Jackets posted that Seth Jones could be had for a small packet of cheesies, that this was somebody we could do business with.

This moves the bulk of cap on the Kings from the forwards to the defense. We didn't like being the CPHL version of the Flames last year, barely squeaking into the postseason, and want to shake things up over the summer. To that end, we are willing to be pretty reasonable in our trades, unless we are extremely unreasonable.

I'd also like to apologize to any teams that we were talking to at the trade deadline, when we ran out of time and did nothing. We were hoping for one trade to be completed, creating a domino effect, but in the end the clock ticked down.

I did not really want to be giving Seth Jones a 3 years UFA grid and would prefer for the money to be shifted up front. Kaut is the wildcard in this. He seemed to hit his stride a bit in SJ but prior to that was lost in the shuffle in Colorado.

We have Draisatl and Rantanen to re-sign so cheese was going to be tight...manageable but tight. So decided to move assets to ECHL and roll the dice on the draft.

We like the Top 4 in this draft, as strong as it's been in a long time.
