Ducks make one more long weekend splash, trade for Hart

The Ducks continued their questionable trades over the May Long Weekend and dealt for Carter Hart.

The 1st (CHI) has special conditions where if Top 10, Wild send a 2nd. If Top 5, Wild send another 2nd. On the flip side, if Bottom 10, Ducks send a 2nd. If Bottom 5, Ducks send another 2nd. Conditions voided if pick traded.

We have no idea if the Chicago 1st will be a good one or not. I tend to believe Tilley will make his team great again just like Trump.

So why make the deal? Well, I hate goalies in this league. They are random and it is hard to know what will perform or not.

What I do like is Hart is amongst elite goalies at his age for his statistics and is trending well. He has a very good team around him too, so I'm hoping I have a goalie stud for a long time and don't need to think about it. It worked 8 years ago with the Habs, so I'm trying it again.

As well, he is 0.75M for 2 more years. So with my backup in Kahkonen, I have 1.25M in goalies for 2 years which means I have more money to spend on my team up front. This means I can now keep Weber, whereas before it was doubtful.

So now after this deal it means I have

Weber - Provorov
Theodore - Dahlin

Didn’t intend to trade Hart but this is good return for a guy I drafted in the second round
And with Gibson the number 1 and some other goalies in the system trending well...should be in good shape still

Wow. That is a big deal.

By far the biggest price paid for a goalie this off-season.

I guess the appeal with Hart outside age is the contract which will be huge to a contending team like the Ducks.

Anaheim is stacked and doing a good job building. The Wild get a very nice package.

Kunin re-rates to a 70 OVR and Hart to an 84 OVR.

Happy with Hart's re-rate, Kunin actually is quite a bit higher than expected to the point where I'm not sure I would have been able to afford him.

This deal is very much a time-will-tell and whether Hart continues to improve or decides to follow the norm for Flyers goalies haha.
