In his pre-draft scouting reports, he was said to be an excellent 4-way skater, and one of the best stickhandlers in the Q. I couldn’t be more impressed with his numbers in his rookie AHL year.

I always liked this draft pick as I'm a big fan of betting on skill.

Poirier named to AHL All-Rookie Team
He is still very much underrated by so many folks who haven’t watched this kid play.
Unreal how good his hands are and his natural instincts, but his compete level is going to make him an NHL All Star one day.
Poirier is the most impressive offensive defenseman the Flames have in a long time.
Honestly he should be competing for a top 6 spot for the big club in September.
I’ll admit and I’m sure he would admit he’s got a lot to learn especially about playing defense, but his hockey sense and competitiveness will show that he’s a special player.
