It really does look incredibly windy there right now for this game

Down 2-0 . . . . Malcolm Shaw catches the defenders and Carducci off-guard from well outside the box.

Geezuz . . . Mavila missing TWO open nets in the last 10 minutes to catch-up . . . The Cavs are being gifted opportunities to catch up and they can't finish.

Not crazy about playing with three back, especially in these windy conditions.

Rough one. The first goal was some shoddy defending. The second was a bit unlucky but it was a good strike.

Cavs still need one more win to qualify I think.

Better to lose now and learn from it. A little adversity in the first round might be better than cruising through 7-0.

With their loss to Valour, FC Edmonton have been eliminated. FC Edmonton is no good.

Defense is getting absolutely exposed... 3-4-3 is a bad formation for this team. Need to see Brown and Cordova and end the Haber experiment.

Well yikes. Things are getting interesting now. Cavalry look mediocre and heavily beatable. I agree with Kurt Larson that they shouldn't be tinkering and looking for their best selves at this point.

Y9 is a must win now. Hopefully we see a 3-5-2 or modified 4-4-2.

Tommy is fired up in his post-game. Let's hope we see a response.

I liked the idea of Haber as a target man option, but he's just too one dimensional, and using him means attacks only come in through the wings, and teams figured that out. Even if we had Luca and Escalante, need some central options that don't rely exclusively on swinging in a perfect cross.

I'd like to see 90 minutes of Cordova.

I’d like to see a 4-4-2 or 4-2-2-2. The back three seems disjointed and the wingers are weak. Or figure out a way to get Ledgerwood, Adekugbe, and Simmons in the middle of the field at the same time and shore things up in the middle of the park.

I trust Tommy to right the ship and get it figured out!

Time to set the expectation that Cavalry aren't good enough to win this year.

They offer little in attack outside of long balls and hopeful crosses into the box. That can be hidden with solid defensive play, but now their back 3 is getting exposed with terrible play out of the back, and getting caught up the pitch after turning the ball over. Northover has never offered anything in attack and there is no reason he should be expected to play a wing back role.

In midfield, Cavalry have too many defensive minded midfielders who can't string passes together, and the injury to Camargo really deprives them of their only real #10. Just a complete lack of ability to play the ball in the middle of the park and create chances.

Brown is not a great striker but there's a reason why Haber was available weeks before the season start. Didn't see much from Cordova either, albeit in limited minutes.

4-4-2 to start next game, with Northover and Mavila staying on the back line. Glue Boskovic to the bench.

I think we can all agree that this team is substantially weaker than last year. Even if we had Luca and Escalante... I don't think Malonga and Buscher were effectively replaced.

I'd like to see a 3-4-1-2 formation next match (I'd prefer a style of 4-4-2, but question if we have the players), something like:

Carducci
Zator-Trafford-Wheeldon
Farsi(or Pasquotti)-Adekugbe-Ledgerwood-Mavila
Camargo (Oliver)
Brown-Cordova

Anyway you cut it, there's going to be a hole. At least this way, we should control possession and not give up freebies like Boskovic did today.

Simmons and Zebie are sub quality, Northover is reckless, Boskovic is too raw for this level, Haber is past it (at best), and Pasquotti has been surprisingly ineffective this season.

We just aren’t going to be able to create much in attack when we start with 5 defenders and two defensive minded midfielders.
