That flight track looks like he went right over springbank? Why'd he try and get into YYC if he had an emergency?

Excellent. Let's see if the media can make the distinction between fuel starvation and fuel exhaustion. My bet is no.

Green line is the track, ignore that dotted blue line track Flightaware puts up.

In other news, looks like Airbus will most likely rename the CS100 and CS300 once their deal with Bombardier is complete. Potential naming is the A210 and A230. Slotting it under the familiar A300 and up series of Airbus names.

Westjet pilots have initiated a strike vote and currently the earliest they could go on strike is May 19. I'm pretty certain that a deal will be hammered out beforehand but the pilot's union seems to be pretty stubborn and I think that the previous CEO created a lot of animosity between the two groups. It will be interesting to see if the new CEO can patch things up.

Air Canada today said it is ready to adjust its schedules and capacity to limit disruptions for the traveling public and to ensure that customers get to their destinations in the event of a labour disruption at WestJet.

Kinda want the strike to happen for the simple fact that there'd be some heavy AC metal here to pick up slack on YVR and YYZ runs.

The pilot group was pretty divided over the whole unionization issue. This has the potential of going two very opposite ways:

1. divides the pilot group even more if the strike vote passes and those opposed to the union to begin with have another reason to be unhappy.

2. unites the group to some extent if some of the anti-union pilots are won over. The assumption here would be they would have to be convinced management is bargaining in bad faith and things are actually not as they used to be prior to ALPA arriving.

ALPA has incentive to get a deal done since they do not collect any dues until a contract is signed as I understand it. I thought the first contract would have been pretty lightweight and simple to agree on without things changing much for this reason alone.

The few guys I know over at WS were very much against unionization as they had nothing to gain from it. I cannot see them being happy at all with this latest turn.

3-year-old 737-800 registration C-GDMP is the first WestJet plane in Kelowna right now getting "swooped". New pink themed interior with seats up to 189 (legal maximum like Sunwing, Ryanair, and everything else horrible in the world)

They are doing the work in Kelowna? That is interesting. I would have expected it to happen somewhere else.

If I remember right, when they were fitting the -800s with the split-scimitar winglets, they were doing that in Kelowna as well.

It'll be on a new MAX in late May/early June. Whether or not they show a rendering of it prior to that remains to be seen.
