Pierre Lavertu has retired from football. really to bad he could never get his ankle right as he had the pedigree to be an all-time great.
Gonna be a very very different team this year.
Quote:
“I worked hard to return to the field but after consulting with doctors, it was determined that it would not be possible for me to get healthy enough to perform at the level that I expect of myself,” said Lavertu. “It’s a difficult decision for me to stop playing the game I love, but I will always be a Stampeder.”
“Pierre was a force on the offensive line for us when he was on the field and it’s very unfortunate that injuries have cut his career short,” said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. “I thank him for his efforts over the past four years and wish him the best in the future.”

Officially official:
https://www.stampeders.com/2018/04/2...2019-grey-cup/
Quote:
The 107th Grey Cup presented by Shaw is coming to Calgary in 2019, the Canadian Football League announced today.
“The home of a leading football operation in the Stampeders, Calgary is also known around the world for its tremendous hospitality, love of sport and ability to put on world-class events,” said CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie. “We have every confidence this city will put on a Grey Cup worthy of Canada’s greatest sporting tradition.”
|
Quote:
“On behalf of our ownership group and the entire Calgary Stampeders organization, I thank the Canadian Football League, the board of governors and Commissioner Randy Ambrosie for entrusting us with the responsibility — and the privilege — of hosting the 2019 Grey Cup presented by Shaw,” said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. “This would not have been possible without the support of our partners at the City of Calgary, the Province of Alberta and Tourism Calgary and we look forward to working together to put on a very successful event.
“With tremendous volunteer spirit and a commitment to Western hospitality, Calgary has a tradition of hosting world-class events and I know the 2019 Grey Cup will only enhance that well-deserved reputation. We are very grateful for this opportunity and we look forward to welcoming fans from across Canada to our house in 2019.”

I heard they’re not doing temporary seats for the game... going for temporary suites instead. I remember tickets in 2008 being a tough monetary pill to swallow, can’t see that making things better on that front.

There was only one Kicker selected in the entire 8 round draft and Calgary took Gabriel Ferraro from Guelph in the 7 th round. I don't know if he handles punting duties too.
Seems odd to only have one Kicker selected is this a normal thing?.

Yeah, Kickers are usually left to find their own in free agency.
I think this is here to push Parades by the dashboard lights, he's not getting any younger, and his consistency is a concern.

I'm not sure if Paredes still has the leg or accuracy to make long kicks. I noticed last season Huff was punting a lot when they were in the range of 45 yards.

Parades has never really been a range kicker, but he's been accurate within that 45 yards. but he's been inconsistent in the short zone as well.
This is about pushing him a bit.

The Calgary Stampeders have released national linebacker#Dexter Janke.
https://www.stampeders.com/2018/05/0...-dexter-janke/
The Calgary Stampeders have signed international defensive linemen Danny Mason, Brandon Peguese and Kelcy Quarles.
Here is more information on the newcomers:
Mason originally signed with the Stampeders on Oct. 8, 2017, and he appeared in one game for Calgary, recording two tackles and one QB pressure. He signed with the NFL’s Chicago Bears in 2015 and attended training camp with the Denver Broncos in 2017. Mason made his professional debut in 2014 with the Indoor Football League’s Texas Revolution and later joined the Colorado Ice. After his senior season at Texas A&M-Commerce, Mason was named the Lone Star Conference’s linebacker of the year and earned first-team all-conference honours.
Peguese has 12 games of CFL experience as he split the 2012 season between the BC Lions and Hamilton Tiger-Cats and collected 10 defensive tackles, three special-teams tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and two knockdowns. He attended training camp with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles in 2011 and was with the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. He has played arena football with the Spokane Shock, Las Vegas Outlaws and Sioux Falls Storm, earning first-team all-star honours and an Indoor Football League championship with the Storm in 2016.
Quarles played two games for the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts in 2014 and has also spent time with the New York Giants, New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns. He was a first-team all-Southeastern Conference selection at South Carolina in 2013 after recording a team-leading 9.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss.

Grozman has retired.
“As much as I loved playing football, the decision to retire is the right one in regards to my long-term health,” said Grozman. “I thank Coach DelMonaco, Coach Dickenson and Huff for giving me the chance to play and I wish the team and my former teammates the best of luck for the upcoming season.”
Quote:
“I wish Roman all the best in the next chapter of his life,” said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. “He showed great determination and effort during his unfortunately brief time with the Stampeders and I thank him for his contributions to the club.”

Rumour. Hes a recruiting analyst for a Notre Dame site.
@mattfreemanISD:
Former #NotreDame CB Devin Butler (@DevinButler_12) tells me he has signed with the Calgary Stampeders.
Butler played his final year in 2017 at #Syracuse as a graduate transfer. He will join former #Irish WR DaVaris Daniels in Calgary. #CFL https://t.co/Jajo4Rvkk8

That's great news for Andrew!!. He just wasn't going to get much higher in the depth chart though.
