Colorado Springs is about the same distance from Denver as Stockton is from San Jose.

Also, Abbotsford lasted 5 seasons, and that was with the next-closest team being 2 time zones away. So, it wasn't exactly a failure.

The state of Colorado is a as strong a hockey market as you'll find in the US. I'm sure it can support more than one AHL team. Makes travel and game scheduling easier.

Stockton already finishes near the bottom in AHL attendance, so even a lame-duck season won't effect them as much.

Thanks for saying that about FtC, but we would all prefer if people keep moving to Denver.

Colorado Springs is what it is. The most conservative area outside of rural eastern Colorado. About 500k population with really poor infrastructure and the main north south road being I-25, which is under permanent construction. More crime and adjacent to the Air Force Academy.

Have friends that call the Springs home and it’s not bad to visit. We will definitely get to see the Heat more often in Loveland and take in a few games when we are down there or in south Denver.

I hope they don’t call them the Heat. I’ve never liked that name.

My wife is friends with Brandon Davidson and it sounds like he and the other players really enjoy playing and living in Stockton.

At the end of the day you're still getting decent money to play pro hockey and live in California. Not a bad life at all, especially when compared to some other AHL cities

The old Central Hockey League affiliate was the Colorado Flames. Maybe we see the return of that. The Flaming C wouldn't even change.

Given the Denver and Loveland professional hockey franchises use "Colorado" in their names, I suggest using "Odaroloc Flames" as a team moniker.

I don't know what Colorado does now, but I doubt they take a bus across to California for every road trip.
I would imagine they probably fly into SFO or SNA and then bus from there. But it is interesting to see the AHL west spreading out again. Vegas is putting their affiliate in Henderson, NV.

Pretty sure this team won't be Denver something or Colorado something. It's in Colorado Springs.

Great place for a road trip and go stay at The Broadmoor. It is super nice.

This will be the 13th new location for the baby Flames, since the Flames changed location from Atlanta:

Here's hoping they actually put some effort into this team's brand.

Not sure if it matters much, but I always thought it must be rough for fans of some teams to cheer for some of these teams. I look at teams like Hershey and Laval and see a great brand local fans can get behind.

You live in a great little town. I travel for work to Loveland, but drive and stay in Fort Collins. The Elizabeth is a favorite of mine, and the local restaurants there are excellent!

Whenever the Oilers get a new coach, the Flames move their farm team.
This is often.
