The best part so far has been all the people who DGAF about the bricks complaining about every aspect of this. Love that I played a small part in bothering you. I would have paid $1988 for that pleasure let alone $19.88.

Haha, this is awesome and I can 100% see the enjoyment that you're getting from this. I kind of wish I had a brick to pick-up0 purely to share in the spite!

It was an Olympics full of firsts:
- not just white people
- snow
- deathmatches prohibited
- skates only allowed to touch ice and not audience members' necks
- all genitals covered
- no takesy backseys
- bricks with names.

Just got my family's brick and it was super smooth. In and out in 5 minutes. They've done a good job of handling this in my opinion.

Yes, a very smooth operation. Went late this afternoon to grab my dads brick, and my wife got her cousins (x2), her grandmothers, and her brothers but sadly her brick did not survive extraction.

Sooo…. what does everyone plan to do with your Brick(s) now? Display it on a book shelf? Place of honour out on the patio or garden? Tuck it away in a box, never to be seen again? Put it on top of the garbage can to keep out the raccoons?

Agreed, but the part that bothers me about this whole thing is the city admin stating “it couldn’t be done” earlier this year. Yet another chink in the city’s credibility armor - they just didn’t want to do it.

Because its a waste of money. Extra costs to:
- remove bricks more carefully
- transport them to Stampede
- facility rental fee
- staff hours to organize all this
- staff hours for the event (assuming they weren't volunteers?)
- clean up and dispose of remaining bricks
Lifetime ban on complaining about taxes for anyone who wanted their brick.

lol, as long as we have helicopters flying around to nab kids breaking bus shelter glass at a cost of millions per year, sculptures made of rusty iron everywhere I look, and city money funding a dumb ass arena for billionaires to pay millionaires to play games for the barking seals to watch I'll grab my fkn brick and not feel an ounce of guilt.

Or we could just try to do less of those things, too. And I say this as a socialist who doesn't mind paying high taxes, as long as we spend them more wisely than this (or any of your perfectly valid examples)

Sorry, what reason can you come up with for why the city simply did not want to do this, and have instead inconvenienced you on purpose?

For what it’s worth I would have happily paid to get my brick
But if the city had done that there would have been a huge uproar I’m sure

So what. People complain all the time and still pay for stuff.

That's a good point. Or even 'donations encouraged' and have the food bank with a table on your way out to guilt you into tapping a $19.88 donation or something.

You could always throw your piss brick through a bus shelter, then have hawks chase you around and really get some value out of it.
