Default Working at the 'Dome

I saw there is a job fair for CSEC in the coming weeks.

My wife is wanting to dip her toe back into the workforce but only has evenings/weekends available to do it, so I thought that a job with CSEC could be a good fit.

-Is it decently organized?
-Can you make decent tips?
-What roles are best, and what should she avoid?

Would love to hear about people's experience working there in the past.

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

I haven't worked at the Dome, but have a few friends that have enjoyed it. Tips are decent depending on where you are working, and you may not get a choice right away.

If your spouse is wanting to dip her toe back in. There are many many many options available right now for evening and weekend work, with tip potential. Likely some very close to wherever you live without the transit/travel/late night issues that the dome can have.

My $0.02.

I worked there PT when I moved to Canada. It was more of a get out of the house thing than to make money, which was good because it was definitely minimum wage.
I was in the kitchen as a dish washer/ general hand so can't comment on tips but can say they were very well organized and I was treated very well.

Are they hiring for an operations coordinator? Because after watching CSEC try to keep up with the nacho demand at the Stamps game, they need an operations coordinator.

Chips at one corner of the area, cheese at another corner, and salsa in between all the tills. Watching all the till workers run into one another trying to slowly fill their own nacho orders was one of the most frustrating things to watch.

Like just put 1-2 people in charge of smashing out nacho platters and have the till kids come and pick them up as needed.

/rant

...sorry I know that wasn't the purpose of the thread but seemed like a timely place to rant after the game the other day!

These are all the positions I found. I was curious for some part time/fun work but I don't see anything that I could too. Too bad I quit piano so I can't be the new organist.

Neat! I wonder what type of engineering credential they require for the "Jumbotron Engineer". It does list 3-5 years engineering experience as a requirement.

Also, am I the only one surprised to learn that the roughnecks have a mascot named "Howie the Honey Badger"?

Hugely controversial among Roughnecks fans, they replaced the beloved Derrick the Driller with a rodent. They have given in and brought back Derrick so now there are two mascots.

So you're saying they have mascots named "Driller" and "Honey Badger"

Probably broadcast engineering.

I worked at Fanattic during high school and university and it was a fun job with good people but if I wasn't a Flames fan it wouldn't have been worthwhile. The best part of it was being able to watch games and concerts during break time and getting the discount.

Don't expect good pay although the beer vendors do make good tips. I imagine the bartenders in the club area would do well tip wise as well. I don't think it would be worth the hassle of taking transit down / finding parking unless you live nearby.
