Default Forced Windows 11 Update

Hoping someone can tell me how to work around this... my laptop updated to Windows 11 last week. It's fine, except that I have my laptop set up with a specific set of software that allows me to extract a lot of battery life out of it by tuning the processor and fan curves and updating to Windows 11 completely screwed that up, such that my battery life was literally cut in half instantly.

So I rolled back to Windows 10 using system restore. All was well, problem solved, except now Windows is trying to force me to install Windows 11 again. I've suspended all updated until February, but apparently at that point it will force me to do this again.

Is there a way around this crap?

You wouldn’t happen to be in the Windows Insider program, would you?

Anyway, you can use this to prevent moving to Windows 11: https://www.ghacks.net/2021/07/06/ho...ows-11-update/

My motherboard has the TPM module disabled in BIOS so Windows tells me it can't upgrade to Windows 11 because my computer doesn't meet the system requirements.

I'll enable it when I want to upgrade.

Or if you ever want to play Valorant, their Anti-Cheat requires TPM its crazy.

This is actually pretty brilliant.

I'd love to take credit but it was totally by accident. Just noticed that my Windows was saying it didn't meet the system requirements one day and I dug into why and found out that's the reason. Wasn't intentional that it was disabled on my motherboard.

But I do like the non-Windows software solution.

Valorant is what my kids mostly play and they still have TPM off in their BIOS. It sounds like it is the default setting when buying gaming motherboards standalone.

Looks like its a Windows 11 issue, I wondered why my son didn't have the same issue. I got a TPM and Secure Boot required error. I also thought this was weird as TPM is required for Windows 11, turns out it was secure boot causing the issue for me.

It is right up until you forget you have Bitlocker drive encryption enabled and relying on your TPM, then have to remember how to get your Bitlocker recovery key.
