How did he end up not being denied entry? Or did he do something ridiculous like try to claim refugee status?

I don't think he was trying to go across at a crossing, he was trying to sneak across

Oh. That’s got to have a penalty attached to it. Permanent ban from the US?

I believe his previous criminal convictions would have precluded him from entering the US legally already.

I imagine it's a fine of $250 (maximum) and that's it. Technically it's also up to 6months in jail, but I doubt the US would throw a right wing white guy in jail, they're more likely to make him a senator or something.

Apparently, he tried to walk across somewhere, and got very, very, very lost, so much so that his US accomplice had to call in the Border Guard to find him. It's alleged that he was wandering around the countryside for 20+ hours in -30 weather. IF that is true, he's in very bad shape.

His plan WAS to claim political asylum...

Can’t we just let them keep him? No returns at this time. Lol.

Uh, Kevin? No, we don't have any Kevin's in Canada. Must be one of yours.

"Illegal alien trying to cross the border to avoid his criminal sentence?! Throw the book at him, lock him in a cage or better yet have him dig his own hole and then put a bullet in his head....Oh he was an anti-vaxxer white guy from Canada? Well it's not that big of a deal."

They'll just ship him back with a slap on the wrist.

Luckily this (hopefully) means his light sentence gets bumped up to some real time

So for skipping his Calgary sentence does he have to serve more time here before going to Ontario?

If he was going to claim political asylum, you’d think he’d enter at an actual crossing with his film crew on hand.

So one American lady was trying to help him up by driving to the border. While it sounds like she was seeking to help through proper political asylum channels (though clearly misguided), if it comes to light she was trying to help him enter illegally she could be in major trouble.

While Johnston may not have faced severe consequences, under Title 8 Code § 1327 because of Johnston's criminal record, she could face up to ten years in prison if she conspired with him to try and gain entry.

Funny thing is he was arrested at the border for trying to get out of his 40day prison sentence being served on weekends. Like trying to flee is going to help that, what a joke.

He was supposed to go to Ontario to serve an 18 month sentence this week, so it's probably that one he was running from. Now he's just extended his stay.
