Are those insurance ads still on where the guy watches his barn blow away and doesn't even react? That was awful.
The worse ad I've ever seen though used to be on during HNIC. It was a little farmer on the ice being bullied by some hockey players until these two clowns skate over and protect him. I can't remember what it was for though - might have been crop insurance.
I'm sure someone probably already mentioned the silver lining to the end of the Flames' season in a FoI post........ NO MORE DOLPHINS!! Woohoo!
What a horrible, horrible song. I really was hoping Telus wasn't going to use the same commercial for the ENTIRE season, but...yikes. Here's hoping they choose a much better song if they're going to do the same thing next season.
You would think Telus would put more than 1 add out in an entire 8 month span.
My LEAST favorite commercial is that stupid Lipton 3D pyramid tea commercial.... EVERY BAG OF TEA IS 3 DIMENSIONS......... drives me friggen bonkers, than the stupid girl starts to fly around in tea leaves... Whoever thinks of these things must have an IQ of 12.
This commercial is quickly growing old. It sounds more obnoxious with every time I see it. Plus it runs at a framerate that looks like it was ripped off youtube or something.
Haha was just coming on to post the same thing about the wheat field. Just. Awful.
Instead then, I'll mention the new Tim Horton's commercial at the spring wedding. Could they have found a douchier looking 4 people?
I'd also like to add; every Tim Hortons commercial.
Seriously, who runs their marketing department? Same with the Mark's Work Wearhouse ads. Mind you, I know exactly who runs that department and I wasn't surprised to see the final products.
I simply can't understand how such a big chain has such bad commercials. Completely insult the intelligence of the audience.
Agreed, just awful advertising. Actually I'd take it even further and say that most Canadian commercials suck. So vanilla and safe, making lame jokes that your grandma would find cute. And if its not that, then its trying to be touching and warm. No imagination at all, just trying not to ruffle feathers.
It's amazing how much better commercials are when you're on an American feed. At least they take some chances and don't just copy the same formula they've been doing for 50 years, like up here.
Eh...I don't like the commercial due to it being terrible but I wouldn't really call it racism. It's a portmanteau of Chinese and Mexican, both aren't racist words and it's used in a way to describe food rather than people.

And that's why I sub to Shaw instead of Bell or Telus. As an example, when there is a game on NBC, I can actually watch the NBC feed and see the American commercials. As opposed to having TSN shoved down my throat on the other providers.

I've actually noticed that they have changed the commercial. It no longer ends with them at the "Chexican" restaurant. Which is good; it was OK that they used the same coin again to decide on where to eat- it makes the point that you don't need to just go with one over the other for mortgages. The restaurant shot just put it beyond silly IMHO.

Western Financial?
Another one that I cant fathom, not so much stand, is the Infinity Broadleaf herbicide commercials that ran during the Flames games.
I am desperately trying to figure out what the target market is for that stuff. And before you say 'farmers, duh' think of how the commercials are filmed, and how that info is portrayed.
I just find it perplexing that todays 'modern farmer' needs to rely on such advertising in order to have a successful crop. And god help you if you happen to be a farmer above the age of, oh I dont know, 45. Would those ads be even remotely interesting to that demographic?

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.
