No. It’s funny because the Oilers are a garbage team that plays like garbage.

Edmonton is no good.

They're afraid the Flames are turning it around and will overtake them yet again, which is exactly what will happen, whether it's in a month or three. It's clear the Oilers are falling back into mediocrity. The soft schedule and power play are the only things keeping them afloat at this point.

Yup - he was also careful to add something to the effect that they all discuss and get input, and then as coaches they sit down together and make decisions. That is excellent, and the way good businesses are managed.

Players see things differently from coaches (and employees from managers!) and at the end of the day they are all trying to get to some specific place...so someone needs to take the lead and make decisions for the group. Great philosophy!

Loved the after hours with Ward, I'm quickly becoming a fan. It sounds like Ward is the kind of coach Gulutzan was trying to be. It'll be a real test tomorrow - on the one hand they've played their best hockey in the last couple of games, but on the other hand Buffalo, Ottawa, Buffalo, LA isn't exactly a murderer's row of opponents to start his head coaching career.

You are right. Ward’s comments about building a relationship with players was similar to Gulutzan talking about the emotional bank account, but more organic and with an appropriate degree of gravitas. Seems like a guy you can take seriously because the mutual respect is genuine

When I heard Ward taking about being true to your style, or people will see through it, I thought of how comical Gully’s stick throw was.

And Ward said specifically that yelling and screaming would be disingenuous: "it's just not me." He also noted that, before long, players see through that kind of malarkey.

Luckily, that means there'll be no cringeworthy stick-throwing incidents.

Actually I didn't think of that but it is a good point. I was more referring to the Oilers being the embarrassment of pro sports for about 15 years.

I like how hardly anyone even pays any attention to him.

Usually there is an indication from the media that the DoPS is looking at it. I haven't heard a word.

Yeah, was going to ask. Usually you hear next day (maybe Sunday is a day off for the people that do it).

Probably dumb question but is there any clip of the fight during the TV time out?

It’s on hockeyfights. But it’s not much of anything.

I think there was a bit of an overreaction to the hit on CP as we're hyper focused on every detail of a Flames game, mixed with many posters not liking aggressive, dangerous hits these days.

I'd be surprised if it got more than a quick look and pass by DOPS.

I’m warming to Rinaldo. Was quite skeptics, previous, but if he brings energy and physicality nightly without being a detriment, then I’m cool with that.

I liked him last night, too, but I think he's better as an occasional injection of energy. Even last night, the Flames only got 38% of the shot attempts when he was on the ice -- and that was in a good game for him. Nobody on either team recorded a worse mark.

Rieder and Czarnik are both much better and more consistent depth options.
