Default Hiller in 2016

In case you were curious:

5-1-1
1.73 GAA
.942 SV%
.944 Adj SV%

I guess we'll see what he's made of down the stretch.

What a game. He killed it, especially coming in cold. Will see a lot more of him in the coming time. Wow.

He deserves quite a bit of credit for the team's recent success

I think he was challenged more in 8 minutes of ice time tonight than in the entire game against Florida where he got the shutout.

Still inconsistant and let's in weak goals. I can't wait until he is gone.

It really was the perfect storm of horrible goaltending the first months of the season. It's sort of infuriating that both Ramo and Hiller has been looking pretty darn good the last few months when they were both equally hell bent on killing our season in october and november. Where were they both when it actually mattered? We could have easily been in a playoff spot with just average goaltending from the start. I'm willing to bet that Hiller goes on a fantastic run now that he's got the ball, landing the team in 9th place, one or two points out of the playoffs to end the season.

I hear the same of every goalie, except Price and Lundqvist. Ramo lets in his fair share of weak ones. Go to Chicago, they say the same about Crawford. Same with Bishop, Quick, etc. The thing is, one of every 11 or so shots goes in against most goalies.

Neither Ramo or Hiller is a solution, but I'd say Hiller is better than a lot of posters think.

Hiller has always been my #1 between Ramo/Hiller. He is more reliable and is better in pressure situations. I'm happy to see that he will hopefully be able to play out the rest of the season and try to help push the Flames to a playoff spot.

I haven't liked some of goaltending decisions by Hartley this year which focused on playing Ramo heavily. Last night I thought Ramo should have been on the bench after the third goal but Hartley kept him in for two more goals and finally the decision to "pull" Ramo was made for him in an unfortunate situation.

IMO he's still a better overall goaltender than Ramo but he's getting up there in age where he's on the slow decline. It would be nice to see him carry his solid play of late but even if he does the team has to move away from both he and Ramo as they both showed this season they are not part of the solution going forward.

He played lights out for that stretch last night, so credit where credit is due. I'll shoehorn in a Backlund compliment too, especially on the late 5 on 3.

Hopefully he stays this hot until the deadline and we part ways as good friends. 2014-2015 was a special year, and he was a big part of that.

That's awesome! Maybe the way he played last night, the Flames can actually get something for him. C'mon Brad, unload before you get nothing.

Outside of the first 4-6 weeks, I haven't had any problems with our goaltending whatsoever. I don't expect either goalie to be Carey Price, but I do expect some level of consistency and an ability to keep the team in games. If you're Sv% is above .910, you're ok with me. Hiller isn't there yet because his play time has been sporadic for a while now. Ramo's been so solid that Hiller hasn't had the chance to play much.

Now, we get to see what Hiller is really made of at this point in his career. If he plays great, that would be wonderful. It would be better to make the playoffs than not and you need Hiller playing great to do so. If he stinks it up, that's fine, we'll accept our defeat this year and get a top draft pick. Also good. The only thing I can't accept is if he's wildly inconsistent, where he is lights out one night but then craps the bed the next night. This team can't do .500 anymore. It's either playoffs or bust, and by bust I mean all the way to the bottom.

I still like Ramo better than Hiller and want to see Hiller moved or walk before next season. I just think he's the more inconsistent of the 2 (not that either one is a model of consistence).

That said, dude came in cold on a 5 on 3, then 3 on 3 where he got peppered, then the shootout and shut the door. That was awesome.
