After initially cancelling the fall season the BIG10 has reversed course and will now play (barring more shutdowns) football this year.

Frankly is been fascinating to listen to the debate over whether to play or not over the past few months. Both sides do make some good points. There has certainly been more discussion than we have at at the Canadian university/college sport level.

The advancement in rapid testing seems to have been the tipping point to bring the season back. The discussion on this topic (rapid testing) would be a good thing in Canada too - not just in sports.

Mountain West “aggressively exploring” options to play 8-game fall season, culminating with Dec. 19 MW title game. Would allow league to be eligible for NY6 bowls. Not all schools might play with Hawaii, Fresno & Air Force biggest unknowns for full season. What other conferences are going to reverse course now that the Big Ten is back in?

EDIT: USC AD Mike Bohn and UCLA AD Martin Jarmond joined forces to have a Zoom call with L.A. County officials, in order to clear the way for football to return, pending Pac-12 approval.

U of Houston has had to cancel their season opener for the 4th time this year. Opponents have pulled the plug each time due to positive Covid tests.

More College Football. Pac-12 season will begin Nov. 6. Everyone will play 7 games. Title game Dec. 18.

It's going to be an interesting debate when it comes to selecting the four playoff teams. Assuming there is a national championship and the conferences all get through their seasons.

If I’m a high school quarterback that is talented enough to play at the next level, Oklahoma and Riley is the only place Id want to play.

Spencer Rattler was the #1 HS QB a couple of years ago. However, OU upset at home against K-State...

Meanwhile, another road upset as Mike Leach and the Air Raid take down LSU in Baton Rouge...

As a Michigan fan and as someone watching Oklahoma I will say they’re at least top 3. Florida State has lost their shine so they’re done, Notre Dame is good for a top ten rating then a couple bad losses too.

Oklahoma once again disappoints. Their defense is essentially non-existent and the QB’s lack of experience dooms them. Rattler needs to either get benched or quickly learn that he’s not in high school any more. My hunch is that neither happens.

I was hoping for more out of their D now that Alex Grinch has been there a few seasons.

Rattler does need to mature, some of his decisions are rookie decisions but his talent looks very good. Keep in mind he has not really started a game on nearly two years coming into this season so has a lot of game rust to knock off. He's also got a very inexperienced group of players around him. O Line is mostly Juniors, RB's very inexperienced (but look good), receivers same. The whole offence needs to mature.
