Both STL and Calgary have the ROW advantage. This may all be decided before the puck drops for our last game. If Nashville loses in Winnipeg then it is all settled, STL stays 3rd in central and we stay WC1.

So the flames will know at puck drop if they need any points from the SJ game to clinch WC1. Only way Nashville can pass STL is with a win in Winnipeg and STL failing to pick up any points in their final two games. A single point clinches things for STL.

Do they re-seed the wild card teams after the first round (if they win their series) or do they stay in the same division until the Conference Finals? For example if Calgary ends up playing Chicago in the first round and wins are they going to play the winner of 2nd/3rd place in that division regardless?

They stay and play the Central, so they would play the winner of St. Louis and Minnesota.

So we could potentially see a Flames/Oilers conference final.

Looks that way. I was looking for this info and I playoff explanation on nhl.com it doesn't mention reseeding. It just says the teams move on in the bracket. They have a bracket up if the playoffs started today.

That's it, the Predators and Flames are the wildcard teams.

I'm surprised at the number of posters who do not understand the divisional bracket playoff format. It's not a new rule it's been around 4 seasons now.
