Hopefully a slightly more entertaining first half tonight and a higher attendance in Abbotsford.

I predict 4-2 with Horak, Walter, Laing and Brodie scoring and Baertschi gets two assists.

Abby doesn't support this team, at all. It's embarrassing. Such a solid team, and yet they continue to have a half-empty rink every night.

To be fair, if the Canucks AHL affiliate was in Airdrie, I wouldn't support them.

I agree, it is a rather dumb place for a Flames affiliated team.

This. The close location to Calgary is nice, but from a business stand-point, it makes zero sense to have the Flames affiliate there.

from a Flames business standpoint it makes perfect sense to have them there. They signed a 10 year contract with the City of Abbotsford in which the city covers all operating losses the Heat incur.

I still think a place like Boise would be ideal. Or, barring that, Fort Mac. They're building an arena up there, or so I hear.

Saskatoon is the ideal spot (Regina should be where the Barons play) but I think due to their WHL teams that is not going to happen. I just think it would be really cool for the battle of Saskatchewan to be the minor league version of the battle of Alberta.

Hoping for Sven, Horak, Reinhart, Brodie to put up some points tonight!

Please refrain from starting general Abottsford Heat threads in the Calgary Flames forum - see "The Backburner" forum please.

I wasn't referring to the Flames business standpoint. Hell, the Flames would have been stupid not to take that deal. Abbotsford on the other hand may not have realized the potential lack of fan dedication.

Abbotsford does get some publicity for having an AHL team though. I don't know if it transfers to more economic opportunities but it could.

From what I hear the attendance should hover around the 4000 mark tonight. a) Because it's a $1 hot dog, $2 beer night, and b) it's Friday.

Even though on paper it said there were 1951 there last night, it was closer to 1500.

Hot dog and a beer for 3 bucks? I'm going to have to make it out to a game one of these days

Nope, they have the quarter-finals of the BNP Paribas Masters 1000. The other SN channels have Sportsnet Connected.

Who should I interview from the Marlies tonight about the budding rivalry between the two clubs?

Colborne, get the springbanks boys perspective on it, maybe you could even get some info on what he thinks of abbotsford being calgarys affiliate.

Interview Khadri, and railroad him about his weight.

"So are you expecting to make a real heavy impact in Toronto after the lockout? Are you going to step in and play a Dustin Byfuglien -style role on the team? "
