LF: Game console for Netflix?? Need help for a non gamer

Hi all,

Im looking for a cheap game console to watch Netflix on as I believe the XBox I use might have an issue. The Xbox starts up and I can hear noise in the background but I am not able to view anything on the TV. Somebody said it might be the flash card??

In any event I don't play any video games myself so I am just looking at a device that connects to the internet for Netflix. My only other device is my laptop but I need that free so I can do other things like work.

Any help or if you have a device for sale, let me know. Thanks!

I'd suggest just getting a $50 Amazon Fire Stick.

Just plug it into an HDMI port, connect to wifi, and you're set. Can have netflix and any of the other apps listed here.

You could also try for a a used PS3 or PS4, if you also want the think you'll want to watch BluRay DVDs.

I use Chromecast as well.

I do like being able to just cast whatever's on my screen (often playing games) using the Chrome browser. Besides that I'm usually casting Netflix/YouTube/Twitch/Crunchyroll off any of my devices.

Fire stick or roku stick are going to be your best options. I’m far from a chrome cast fan because it requires another device and I’m not about killing my phone or tablet battery.

You could also buy any old apple tv on Kijiji for around $50 (except the jailbroken 2nd gens those go for higher)

A Chromecast doesn't use much battery life from your phone or tablet. The phone/tablet is more of a remote control. You can even reboot your device and the streaming will not be interrupted.

Do they still? Seems strange since the release of the latest one as I thought you could now use Plex natively.

Exactly, and a bonus with Chromecast is you can easily cast videos from your PC via videostream in addition to Netflix.
