Default Jersey Poll - All time #34

Did this five years ago, thought it might be interesting again. Always fun to see younger fans and older fans arguing over different generations in a battle.

Will put one up a day whenever possible.

Have fun! and Go old guys!

How it works:

I pick off a key group of players for each jersey. I don't use every name, as that gets tedious and unnecessary (probably go with say 5 unless there are many that wore the same number).

I also don't put up a guy for the number he isn't known for (Iginla shouldn't win #24 for example)

Results:
1 - Roman Turek 67.8% (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=138746)

Clear winner of course, but Macoun deserves to be talked about.

Of course this is Miikka's because he was just so astounding and saved us from mediocrity for years, but I really did love what Macoun brought to the table. It was just as crushing that he was traded at the same time as Gilmour in that infamous trade.

arguments could made that Kipper is the reason we were mediocre for the past few years. He could make a bad team look good if they scored one goal because he'd get a shutout. The guy was amazing and I can't wait for him to be a part of the coaching staff.

Macoun was great, but Kiprusoff was greater.

Kipper's pole, but Macoun was awesome. He was what Regehr was for years on the Flames. Tough, stay at home defensive defencemen. One of the leaders. Was sad to see him included in that horrible trade.

No slight against Macoun and what he did here. But there probably shouldn't have even been a pole for #34.

In my opinion, he was the best player in franchise history. He was the reason why the Flames weren't complete garbage from 04 on.

We could have used this post at #12, #14, #28, #29 and #30. Great players wore the same number, but as the poll is written, there aren't any contests, IMO, at several numbers.

This number should be hanging from the rafters sometime in the future. None of that Forever A Flame garbage, Kiprusoff is a guy that needs to have his number properly retired.

Kipper was the only reason why we were competitive after the cup run. We just didn't have an offense/defense to ever support him.
