MacKinnon is unreal... just had a Crosby-esque shift. Man... I would give up Monahan+ for this guy any day. Drew the penalty that allowed a Soderberg PP Goal

Bernier is the sort of goalie who makes it very difficult to tell if you're watching a live event.

I looked across the room at the screen, saw the aftermath of a goal, saw the #45, and assumed I was watching highlights from the night before.

AgInst the team that chose not to sign him a year ago!

That Jesper Bratt kid looks good too. Scored his first goal.

Bernier playing out of his mind the last few mins. Some Hasek stuff on that last 2-save play.

This Avs defence makes the Oilers swarm defence look good.

Never heard of some of these devils forwards but its pretty evident that they have become a quicker team.

That series of saves by Bernier especially the first one to start the 3rd was out of this world

I love the way the Devils are built. No overpaid slow vets in the bottom six. They have their good vets: Hall, Henrique, Johansson and then they round out their lineup with young energetic kids that can skate and create offense like Wood, Bratt, Coleman

Wish our management shared that same mentality

The Devils were one of the worst teams in the league last year and are pegged to be in lottery territory again this year.

I get the grass is always greener trend, but I'd pump the breaks on glowing about how a team like New Jersey is building until there are some tangible results.

I mean look at a lot of teams in the league now. Brouwers and Stajans in the bottom six isn't the way to go anymore.

The Oilers and The Ducks (two teams that embarrassed us last season) had bottom sixers filled with players like:

Ducks: Wagner, Shaw, Kase and Ritchie at times

Oilers: Caggiula, Slepyshev, Pakarinen and now they've added Jujar Khaira

While ours is filled with Sam Bennett and then a combination of locker room allstars and outdated plugs like Tanner Glass.

The NHL is moving in a new direction and with defenses and systems being better than ever, you need four lines that can put the puck in the net on any given night. Mark Jankowski not being on this team is criminal and I feel like players such as Morgan Klimchuk and Emile Poirier could slide in other teams' bottom sixes and not look out of place, but on this team, unless you were a top 10 pick then you have virtually no chance of making the roster regardless of how you perform in camp.

To be on a team you need to be good at hockey or be potentially good in the future

Brouwer, Glass, Bartkowski all don't belong

You could argue Stajan as well but I think he is a good hockey player, maybe not for much longer though

This just sounds like more of the same whining that's been popular as of the last two weeks.

We're all unhappy Brouwer hasn't worked out and that Jankowski is not on the team at the moment, but it's early in the season and Treliving has shown he isn't shy about correcting mistakes when possible.

It's easy to point out the grass is greener because of a few teams' rosters, but the fact is every team makes gambles and has contracts they'd rather not be stuck with.

At the end of the day pining over what New Jersey is doing is pretty pointless with how currently terrible they are.

The Flames have room to make a few improvements but this woe is us routine from a vocal minority of this board is getting really tiresome as of late.
