The Night Of
Is anyone else watching this HBO show? A naive young American Muslim is arrested and charged with murder after hooking up with a girl he meets whilst driving his father's taxi cab. A night of partying ensues back at her place and things take a turn when he wakes up and finds her mutilated. The show does a great job of making you feel the fear and uncertainty this young man is going through, from arrest to his introduction into the prison system.
John Turturro plays his lawyer.

This was James Gandolfini's pet project before he passed away and HBO had passed on the project in 2012, but they picked it back up in honour of Gandolfini after his passing. You see his name in the credits. John Turturro is playing his role, but it was supposed to go to Robert De Niro due to scheduling conflict. Thank you "scheduling conflict". John took the role as he was a close friend of James and he wanted to play the role for his friend.

Watched the first seven episodes over a couple days on SOD. Very good series. I just hope the finale gives us an actual conclusion. Ambiguous endings are getting old, but I am getting the feeling that is where it is headed.

Maybe I missed it, but I'm curious as Nas has gone through such a crazy transformation... How much time has supposedly passed from episode 1 to the end of episode 7?

I believe it is only a few months. The night of was definitely in October as it is captioned at the beginning. There were some references to it being November about midway though, and then there is snow on the ground in episode 7, so still in winter months.
The transformation in Naz is definitely interesting.

finished episode 2 last night. Interesting show that has got me intrigued, but the rate at which things happen, numerous 15-30s scenes, that seem more or less meaningless, make it a bit of a chore to watch though...........

Watched all 7 episodes in the last couple days. Really enjoying it and am stoked for the finale. I'm also in the group who's hoping there isn't an ambiguous ending. I really like Michael Williams(Freddy) ever since The Wire and he plays a good role in this as well.

I certainly hope there's a solid ending to this series and we find out who the killer is for certain. I'm doubting it's Naz.

Keep going, it all starts to come together as you move along in the series.

If the foot fungus isn't involved in the killing, I'll consider the show a massive failure. There is zero reason to give his struggle with that so much screen time. I don't get the connection, don't understand what they were going for here.

Based on a British show I believe, so you could look up the end if you wanted, just saying...

Why would anyone want to do that?

Not sure how I feel about the ending. Clearly, Nas will be back with Freddy in no time.

I liked the ending. Naz is a broken young man.
