I'm not a fan of this, and based on the online reaction, neither is anybody else. Given Jamie (especially) and Adam really can't carry the show on their own and the fact that the entire show has been running on fumes for a few years now, I suspect the next season will be the last.
Kari is one of the main reasons I watch! ...Along with all the explosions and destruction of course This is too bad. One of the most unique shows to ever hit the airwaves. I guess every good thing must come to an end.
Having not seen too much other than their send off, I'm assuming it is $$$ related? They didn't even have them in the room while discussing they were gone.
Can't say i'm surprised, It's more of a shock to find out they're still making new episodes of that show.

I wonder why they did it, was it $$$ related or to attract viewers/a new model. Seems really abrupt to just say, "oh yeah and their last episode was yesterday, kthxbye".
Hunh. Haven't watched in a while, but still found it entertaining when I did. They are going to a new format, it seems, with trying to show a lot more of the actual build, and making it stuff that you can do at home with inventory lists, etc.

When 90% of the stuff they build is designed to explode is that a good idea lol? Seems odd. I haven't watched Mythbusters in a while but I always enjoyed what the build team brought to the show.

The new format, I've read, is supposed to be "more science-y, less explode-y"
The show is 10 years old. It feels like an institution that's jumping the shark.
That said, going to a more science/build based type show or a back to basics approach might be a good idea. Those three are beloved by fans of the show however, so basically firing them won't sit well. Why not retool around the cast instead of cutting slack? If anybody or anything needs to go, it's the stupid narrator!
Well apparently I am an outlier here but I still think the show is great. Haven't seen the new episode yet but the build team was great so definitely sad to see them go. I hope the new direction is a good one. Don't want the network to wreck the show because the ratings aren't as good as they use to be (if that's even the case).

That's pretty surprising giving most of the program on Discovery is decidedly not science oriented.
Alaska: The Last Frontier
Bering Sea Gold Cash Cab
Cold Water Cowboys Daily Planet
Deadliest Catch
Don't Drive Here
Fast N' Loud
Gold Rush
Highway Thru Hell How It's Made
Ice Cold Gold
Moonshiners Mythbusters
Naked and Afraid Shark Week
Sons of Guns
Vegas Rat Rods
Yukon Men
That's the list of the shows from the .ca website. I bolded the ones that are science oriented or even some what educational. Lots of shows about blue collar work.
I gotta be honest here... I didn't even know the show was still on the air. When does it air?... I used to watch it all the time then I never saw it on my episode guide when surfing for something to watch and just assumed that it was over.
Surprised that they would cut Keri... Jaime & Adam aren't much to look at.
I haven't watched this show in years. Not because I have anything against it, but because I don't have regular TV anymore. Back when I did have TV, it was one of those shows that I would stop on while I was channel surfing but wouldn't necessarily seek out (and I would always seem to catch the same re-runs all the time). If I am being totally honest, Kari was one of the factors for why I would watch it. I found Tori annoying and Grant smart, but rather bland.

Shark week is no longer really educational either. I flipped over to Discovery and caught part of two "documentaries" on the hunt for Megalodon and the mythical giant great white shark, Submarine. Except for the idea of their existence, the shows were completely fabricated! Right down to the interviews and reported attackes. Just a total waste of time. Actually worse than a waste of time, as they gave it a documentary format in an attempt to make it look true. They were no better than the mermaid documentary they ran. Basically even the sharks have jumped the shark.
Nat Geo's ran a bunch of documentaries that week that were wwwwaayyy better.
