Default Electronic music suggestions

I've recently been listening to more electronic styles of music but my horizons need to be broadened.

Here's what I've already got on my ipod:

Daft Punk
Armin Van Buuren
Benny Benassi
Mirwais
Portishead
Massive Attack

Any other suggestions? What are CP faves?

Suggestions don't necessarily have to be based on my extremely limited list above because frankly I hardly know the difference between Techno and House or any of the other electronic sub-genres.

Get your booty on the floor tonight.
Make my day.

Sure it's edited by a guy who has no idea how to edit without a star wipe, but this song is gold!

I'd suggest maybe listening to Pete Tong's essential selection on BBC Radio 1. It give you a nice rundown of electronic music from a bunch of different sub-genres. Personally I like listening to electronic music in a mix (rather than individual songs) so try finding a mix from any dj you like.

Before the CP taste gestapo comes in and shuts you down for not listening to the right kind of music, I'll make some recommendations.

House music is essentially club music, like Armin van Buuren and Benny Benassi on your list. A lot of the acts wpgflamesfan mentioned in the first half of his list are big house DJs. Check out A-Trak (who, along with Armand van Helden, forms Duck Sauce, of "Barbra Streisand" fame). I also highly recommend Yuksek and 2ManyDJs.

Portishead and Massive Attack are a bit more chilled out electronica, and if you like them you should check out Air and Zero 7.

If you like Daft Punk, you might also like Justice, the Chemical Brothers.

Two artists I really recommend are two bands I've seen gain a lot of steam over the past couple years from small venue shows to sell-out gigs here in London are Fenech-Soler and Man Like Me (who I am hoping to see tomorrow night or the next day). Fenech-Soler has a really polished electronic sound but is a proper band--vocals, drums, guitars. Man Like Me are goofy and hard to explain, almost Talking Heads/grime/hip-hop/caribbean; they're now on an Ikea ad here in the UK so people are starting to take notice. Probably my favourite band at the moment.

Try also Girl Talk, The Hood Internet (their Mixtape Vol 5 just dropped on Monday and is free on their website), Chromeo, Cut Copy, um... probably forgetting a whole lot more.

Try some Modeselektor (this one nsfw):

Aphex Twin is classic:

Broadly speaking I think Burial also qualifies under electronic. I think he'll appeal since you've already listed Portishead:

and Autechre:

Best site ever for finding electronic music is Beatport. Go there and that's all you're going to need.

Also check out the Kitsune Maison compliations, they have a lot of good remixes of Phoenix, Passion Pit, Pnau,

Other good songs right now - Grand Theft Ecstasy (Feed Me) Once again (Twin Blood), Rock N Roll (Scary Monsters), Stars on 45 (Olav Basoski Remix), Skrillex (Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites)

A dj/group called Girl Talk does great 1 hour long remixes

MGMT
Chromeo
Kaskade
djlobsterdust

To name a few....

I don't really know how to classify music. There is good and there is bad.

These guys probably fall into the electronic genre though, and they're awesome!

Personally I don't think it gets much better than Daft Punk but here are a few others you might enjoy.

LCD Soundsystem
Miike Snow
Junior Boys

These three I find to be loosely based off electronic, certainly not house or drum and bass... just really damn good.

Follow this guys suggestions as well as check out beatport. The only thing is Erix prydz releases all his big hits under the name pryda while some of his more techno songs are released under cirez D.

alldj.org is the BEST site to download the newest sets/radio shows for lots of the big names. These are my favorites radio shows

-Markus Schulz
-Judge Jules
-Niki Belucci
-Pete Tong
-Trance Around the World with Above and Beyond

I have built quite the collection of electronic tracks and the scene just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I'm off to Miami in March for the Ultra Music Festival week. Can't wait!! Anybody else going??
