Completely bungled CalgaryNEXT.

Allegedly meddles in Hockey Operations despite lack of background.

Let's take the Edmonton approach and promote him.

Ken King is just a conduit to the meddling owner, which is Murray Edwards. King should be gone but if we think Murray won't replace him with another overseer we're dead wrong. Edwards is not the same hands off chairman that Harley Hotchkiss was, Edwards wants to and is involved, through Ken King.

That's pretty darn depressing, sorry.

He is doing the job he was hired to do. (although I agree he is terrible) There is plenty of owner meddling in hockey operations here, all via KK, what else would you expect?

He won't be fired, he's the hired puppet & punching bag for ownership.

If ownership meddles, this organization is doomed to continue down the path it's been on for the last 27 years.

I don't care who has to get fired or talked to or whatever, just extend Brad Treliving, and let him and Burke run this hockey team the way they see fit and leave them the #### alone.

Terrible stadium roll out.
Meddling with and possibly alienating Treliving and Hufnagel, respectively the best hockey and football minds to run our franchises in my 26 year life time.
Most egregious, flames have some of the worst jerseys in the league when they could easily have one of the best if we switch to retros.

I'd love to see him gone but I'm in agreement with others that he's a symptom of meddling ownership and that probably won't be anytime soon.

I do think Treliving deserves a few more years. Some of the moves simply didn't work out but at the time they were pretty solid deals. Worth more time here IMO.

I don't think Burke would take a top level hockey ops job if he suspected that ownership would meddle in his and the gm's decisions. He seems like a let me do my job and you do yours type of guy.

The new arena will be Ken Kings legacy, good or bad. I would think he really wants to get something done but ultimately its up to the owners.

Through both personal interaction and as an outside observer, I am no fan of Ken King. But calling for him to get fired based off a "friend of a friend" story that he is involved in hockey decisions is irrational IMO.

As CEO of CSEC, I would suggest the owners have given him the power to provide input into hockey decisions. CEOs of multi-million dollar corporations provide input into all aspects of their organization. It's not like he is the team's accountant, or the son of the owner, or in sales. He is the CEO. We should expect him to be involved in hockey decisions.

And when will we consider King to have a hockey background? He has been running an NHL team since 2001.

King is not getting fired.

What bungled CalgaryNEXT was buying the Stampeders. Instead of asking for a new arena the minute after Edmonton got theirs, they went for a two for the price of none special. They are victims of their own greed.

If they had originally asked for a hockey arena only there would likely be shovels in the ground right now.

The Alberta economy cratering at the time it did didn't help either.

Ken King has done a lot of great things for the Flames. Unfortunately, most of them happened years ago.

If the rumor is true, then congrats guys. We've got a Kevin Lowe on our hands. We're never winning the cup as long as he has influence in hockey ops.

He can't even manage an arena situation that he's been working on for over a decade.
