The best hockey that Stone has played in his career has been with a partner that can skate well and move the puck. He complemented OEL well. He looked solid with Brodie. His underlying stats with Kylington playing against McDrai in last year's playoffs were much better than the Gudbrandson-Zadorov pairing.
Weegar and Stone needs to be tried as a pairing, and Sutter needs to allow Weegar to rove more (like he did in Florida)

This is just a different team without the steadying presence of Tanev.
Missing playoffs is a serious worry now.
This is starting to feel like the Hamonic year where we traded the future but missed the playoffs anyway.

Maybe Sutter should use a slightly more open system that plays to his player's strengths. Weeger is as misused as Bouwmeester was under Brent. Huberdeau has been argued to death on this forum already, but forcing him along the boards isn't his game. He thrives off the rush
Sutter's roster deployment and system has been horrendous this year.
Just because it worked last year, doesn't mean that it will work this year with different personnel.

You guys are delusional if you’re blaming Markstrom or wish that Vladar played, Markstrom was the only reason they didn’t get blown out in the first, terrible defence all game.
And please stop blaming Mackey, he had some rough shifts at first which is expected from someone who hasn’t played in a month. Stone was way worse, and every other dman had a terrible night

what's alarming is I don't think Chicago was trying especially hard here, and they wound up with that many odd man breaks up the middle
the Hawks were getting back in time to obstruct most of the Flames odd man opportunities, while we had no one home on a several of the chances we gave up
seems that we're not just not trying hard enough defensively, but missing basic defensive assignments altogether
the Hawks were given gifts all night. why are our d-men so confused as to what they're supposed to do out there?

Ugly loss and brutal effort on home ice. Is this the first blow-out loss of the season? Seems like all of their games have been close.
Players, coaches, and GM should be embarrassed. Something just continues to feel off about this team.
And I’m not blaming Markstrom, but at some point the dude needs to steal them a win. How do you go from 9 shutouts to 0? How do you go from career best SV% to career worst (as a starter). Sick of him dragging the team down.

My opinion on the team this year;
- Lindholm is not a #1 centre on a cup contending team
- Markstrom is on a massive decline (in general not tonight)
- Hanifin although a good player is overrated
- The forward group lacks speed
- The d core which looks amazing on paper is exactly like Flames of past, great on paper and underwhelming on the ice
- Sutter for an experienced coach, looks lost with turnover of core players

This franchise has a knack for being mediocre in the best draft years.
Weren't we 8th in the West the McDavid year? Now probably will be 9th in Bedard's draft year.
For Pete's sake; pick your seasons!

The year we were rebuilding and thought we'd be challenging for lottery and beat Vancouver in round 1 of the playoffs. The year full of comebacks and Johnny/Monny/Hudler dominated, I believe.

Lindholm doesn't have much to work with.
Dube is basically Kobasew. Toffoli has been good but it's not like he's driving plays.

2-3 year window. Make the playoffs and anything can happen. Hopefully Patrick Kane is a Flame soon.

Couldn't watch this one, but the extended highlights seemed to suggest Markstrom had a decent game in spite of the score, and the culprit again was the Flames' lack of lethality. They look about as threatening as a band of fuzzy bunnies.
Part of it I'm sure is Sutter's system, but I still don't get why they can't shine on the powerplay at least with the personnel they have.

And we won couple of meaningless games in 2013 only to draft Monahan instead of MacKinnon. Those type of mistakes may decide the fate of a franchise.
