For sure. Gold is rarely stored outside.

CBC saying 20M of "gold and other high value items".

As for how, they probably just drove a truck in, loaded up and left. There will surely be lots of video footage. Had to be someone on the inside for sure.

You seem to know a lot about the storage of Gold...

For someone uninvolved....'allegedly.'

If this was at a cargo facility, then it could also have been loaded onto another airplane and flown out. All the cargo facilities have literally hundreds of cameras, so if it made into the warehouse, they're going to find which truck it's on fairly quickly.

The big cargo facilities like Air Canada Cargo also have high-value rooms for stuff like this.

In unrelated news, does anyone want to buy some gold bars or 4 mini coopers?

I imagine it won't be hard for them to find a trail seeing it's likely employees that were in the know about when the shipment was going to arrive and where it was going to be stored. It will come down to how well they covered their tracks and if any bread crumbs were left behind.

The value is apparently quite a bit north of $20 million. The current belief is that while the container the gold was in made it into the warehouse, the actual gold did not.

There are significantly less cameras out on the apron side of these cargo warehouses than inside; and each company can individually control their own cameras.

Globe and Mail is saying that Air Canada Cargo were the ones handling the cargo; that is technically true, but they weren't actual Air Canada employees.

The flight in question had high value escorting until about two months ago when they canceled due to cost.

Probably the gold owners. Stop security, wait a few months, steal the gold(or never load it in the first place) and claim insurance.

Possible, but it's not the cargo owners that pay for high-value escorting. It's usually the handling company, to prevent claims of missing or damaged cargo.

I'm surprised the insurer didn't demand an escort/security as part of their terms.

How would one go about selling that much gold without getting caught.
Asking for a friend...
