I have nothing to support it just my take on Iginla's character, but I think he doesn't want to come back out of respect for Gio. He knows it would be a huge distraction and media and fans might bypass Gio and go to Iggy as "the Captain".
Think of the whole Messier/Linden thing with the Canucks.

Haha not quite that sketchy, I was blessed to travel with the Flames in California and stayed at the same hotel as them. Had some interesting discussions with some media guys and some members of flames employees. Rather not mention names in public forum but would share some details to make my comments more credible.
His jersey sales alone would pay for his salary here.
Bring Jarome Home. Let's win a Cup.

They might have had the flames opted to actually change the jersey design, most people who wanted one already own an Iggy jersey with flags on the shoulders

Easy Debbie. That's a downward call.

Wasted all day waiting for "Iginla signing with Flames", leaving thoroughly satisfied we didn't sign a player that doesn't want to be here for the sake of a few fans with an almost sickening nostalgia to bring back a player on the cusp of retirement.
If Iggy signed for $1M, at $200 each it would take 5000 people buying new Iggy jerseys to make up that money. And that's not including material costs. I actually don't mind the idea of the flames bringing him back, I just disagreed with the OP's comment given the fact that the "new" jerseys look almost identical to the ones worn when Iggy left.

I agree with your math. I think 5000 sweaters would sell though.

Merchandizing revenue in the league is split 31 ways.
