In the last hour, I've gotten this message a couple times that my computer is trying to connect to this site kproxy dot com. It asks me if I authorize (to which I say no). WTF?

It get a message at the top of the page saying IE has blocked this website from displaying content with secuirty certificate errors.

One of the images posted in the thread is from that site, probably it's a private image on that site or something. That's why it's doing that.
