Default Roger's Internet Stick

Is anyone using this? I want to add mobile internet, but I'm curious about just getting the stick and using it for all my internet usage rather than paying for home and mobile.

It just sounds like such a great deal that it makes me skeptical; I can't help but think I'm missing something obvious.

Thanks.

I'm with you ... it seems awesome but I wonder if there is a catch.

The problem with the Rogers Stick is that you are restricted to 3G speeds (until the 4G backbone is up, which won't be for at least a year).

3G speeds on Rogers are around

.5-1 Mbps download
.1 - .2 Mbps upload

In comparison, Shaw Internet Standard ($30 a month)

7.5 Mbps download
.5 Mbps upload

3G isn't worth it. We need WiMax!

Don't they have huge restrictions on how much you download, and bad prices to boot?

$85 dollars for 2gigs?

Well, what I heard is that there is a cap of $100, but I'm not sure....their website is not very clear on it. I guess I'll have to phone. That's what interested me to start with. I'd happily pay the hundred bucks for that vs. two seperate fifties or whatever it would work out to.

You sure about that man? They say here: http://www.rogers.com/web/link/wirel...iled=MF636REDR

That its up to 7.5 megabits...figure half that in real life and you are still looking at 3-4 megabits, which isn't half bad compared to Shaw Lite.

I see they refer to their HSDPA network as 3.5G, which is a fallacy, but if Rogers wants to refer to their services by slang, then thats their perogative.

Oh, so they are playing the "up to" game, eh...that sucks.

Why would you voluntarily become a Rogers customer unless there was a pressing need? :-)
