The NDP is going to try and frame the election based on personalities. They want the focus to be on the 2 leaders, Kenney and Notley and how their beloved Notley is the Saviour of this province and Kenny is the Devil who will bring disaster.

The NDP is smart to make it about the leaders. Kenny is a sleazy politician.

Have they even dropped the writ yet?
The fact that they're doing this on government time with government resources is so wrong.

Notley is such a hypocrite when it comes to this. She railed against the former PC party for doing this but now she thinks it's okay and that Albertans won't notice what she is doing.

Notley is destroying your province. I might move to Alberta just to vote against her.... I have a rental property on the AB side of Lloyd. I could move there to vote?

If you want to save AB, move to BC.

Did you guys read the article.
The Oul by Rail plan did not collapse. Right now less oil is being shipped by rail because the Hardisty price of WCS plus the cost of rail is higher than the refinery gate price. This should raise the differential until it reaches the marginal rail cost. Somewhere around $18 per barrel.
This means curtailment should be lifted slightly faster than expected. Rail will still be needed for the foreseeable future.

Except we shouldn’t fall for that. It leads to the wrong incentives for political parties.

Train carrying crude oil derails in Manitoba:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manit...toba-1.5022583
Gee, if only there was a safer way to transport oil. Why hasn't anyone thought of that yet? Something less likely to leak and therefore better for the environment, maybe?

Kenney slams NDP and the safe injection horror show
Quote:
United Conservative leader Jason Kenney says if his party forms government in the coming weeks, and he becomes premier, the UCP will review existing injection sites and their “social impact.”
He continues.
“We will not support or fund additional sites that do not have the support of the local community,” says Kenney.
“Politicians have no right to inflict on entire neighbourhoods massive social and crime problems against the consent of the local residents and businesses.”
|
Quote:
violence and anti-social behaviour that is destroying an entire neighbourhood. They are so self-righteous they can’t for a minute acknowledge what they’ve done.
“This is a classic example of left-wing ideology trumping real people’s lives.”
Yes, we live in such a screwed-up world saving the precious injection site and holding no one accountable is way more important than whatever happens to law-abiding citizens, no matter the horrible crime stats pumped out by the city cops.
“The NDP doesn’t care because for them politics is all about playing to the political fashions and showing everybody how virtuous they are,” says Kenney.
“I’ll tell you there’s nothing virtuous about seniors being terrified to walk around in their own neighbourhood at night.”

There's a special kind of irony here. Saying that you have to have the support of the community to do any good like this really seems tone-deaf when it comes to pipelines and Indigenous people. If public good works for one it should work for the other.

The other part is that it assumes that the homeless and addicts are not part of the community.
The correct way to approach would be to work with the community to ensure security, start needle exchange programs (like pop bottle deposits) to clean up the area, and add more of them to decentralize the impact.
The NDP has dropped the ball here as well with these sites
